Im sure someone has posted this before, but the Smashing Pumpkins video, "Tonight, Tonight" is almost exactly the same as A Trip to the Moon. You can see the parelells from George Meleis's short film like the moon men turning into smoke etc...

If I remember correctly, Melies name is writen in the boat, or somewhere else.

Yeah Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris did that intentionally, they based it off this film exactly. Almost shot for shot.

I always loved the Tonight, tonight video, saw it long before I knew what it was based on, but the styling and imagery is so cool.

The whimsical nature of the song really seems to suit the style of the video as well.
