1901, or 1902?; 'Building Up'?

The IMDb lists the year of release of this film as 1901. Yet when one watches it, at both the beginning and end, the film itself says 1902. Is there any detail(s) that would account for 1901 as the release-year? Or is it just an error here in the Internet Movie Database that should in fact read as 1902?

Also why is it entitled Demolishing and Building Up the Star Theatre (emphasis added) when only the deconstruction of the building is shown? I mean was the Star Theatre ever thereafter rebuilt? And why might it have been torn-down in the first place? It looked like a beautiful and rather large building...
