Talk About Basketball? On a Movie Chat Site?

Since there really is nowhere online to discuss sports, can one repurpose this board a tiny bit to dabble in a bit of delightful chitchat about sports?

What do we make of this Warriors team? They're certainly no match for the 73-win team from a few years ago, but they're still quite good. Good enough to defeat Toronto and win yet another title?

Only cucks watch basketball

reply

Cucks? Okay Falstaff, you do you.

I'm on an NHL chat site, so I'm sure there must be places to discuss NBA. What about Yahoo? I haven't necessarily heard good things, but that doesn't deter people from going there.
Or maybe it does but whatever.

nice bounce back from the oilers, rangers had better learn to score goals on homeice. i think the comeback win from Gs tnte will be something Dallas can't comeback from, curry was cookn

Rangers are playing Carolina who is likely the best defensive team in the league, so they Have their hands full. At least they are going home for two games coming up. Yes, Oilers did well in Calgary. We'll see how St Louis does against Colorado later. Only one game today. They tinkered with the schedule for the first time since the POs began.

I try to keep half an eye on the NBA but I lose track exactly who's ahead from day to day.
I used to have friends where we'd watch a lot of hoop but I don't hang with them anymore and I miss the camaraderie.
The NBA certainly is a soap opera, though. ESPN yammers about NBA alla time.

big game for the blues tnte, i'd like to see the Lighting go up 3 - 0 i'd think the Oilers crowd will be rocking, i'm pulling for them to make it through. with all that's on tv today you got any other sports you keep up with ? i myself have enjoyed the Usfl & ufc but i'll watch anything with a moneyline

I'm not a betting person but I do have the PGA on right now. I have to admit though that when I'm playing on the computer I'm really not taking in the golf the way I (supposedly) should be. I think golf can be quite elegant and also fraught with drama as these guys try to zero in on achieving the best scores. There is usually a lot of movement in position as the golfers have good and bad holes, some get hot and others falter. Definitely a skill one needs to acquire, not just non-athletes knocking a little white ball around.

watched golf only cuz the old man handled the remote, he also liked tennis. French open starts tmrw, any interest in that ? of all the sports my dad forced us to watch boxing would be the one i enjoyed most

reply

I do like tennis and have watched a lot over the years.
Usually I pass on boxing for something else I might find more interesting, but I don't have any moral stand against it. With the right people it would be fun to watch a card of bouts (I think that's an acceptable way to put it) but when it comes to two guys I don't know anything about, I don't have any desire to watch people wallop up on each other, whatever the type of competition is (MMA, etc.) But that's just me.

got any favorites for the French ? this Alcarez kid looks legit & Iga is fierce on Clay, my guess is Youth prevails

reply

No, I really don't. I forget but I think Raffa isn't playing? Not even sure if Djoker will be allowed to participate but I'm guessing he will. Then there's good ol' Fed. After that I have to be following it more closely to know the other players and where they are from.
