How many years left of a career in Hollywood does he have?

I don't want to be mean, but let's be honest: his cuteness is a big reason why he's so popular. Few actors were able to make the transition from child star to adult movie star. I give him 3 to 5 years left in Hollywood.

His performance in Room was far more than cute.
The movie could never work without a child actor who could play the hell out of that role.
His popularity exploded because people have been pretty amazed at how good he was in the role of Jack.
He's got four more movies coming out soon, so we'll see how he does.
I think he's got a lot of talent which can give him a long career if he wants it.

He was great in Room, but let's be honest: the reason his popular right now it's because everyone goes "awww..." when they see him.

He was great in Room, but let's be honest: the reason his popular right now it's because everyone goes "awww..." when they see him. You make a post claiming that he's only popular because he's cute, RRuin points out that this isn't the case. He's popular because he played a great role, whereupon you say that he was great in that role but that if we are honest we would all agree that he's only popular because he's cute. I guess 'being honest' translates to 'agreeing with you.'

The fact is that no, he's not popular just because he's cute. He's popular because at the age of nine he can act the pants of seasoned actors.

reply

I couldn't agree more.
He DOES have that cuteness factor going for him. But it doesn't stop there. He has a natural gift and talent and it shines as much as his cuteness. Add to that, the fact that there is a beautiful young parson that radiates from radiates from the inside as well. I sincerely hope that he is able to hang on to those qualities. Too many young people seem to get chewed up and spit out by Hollywood who too often sees them as a disposable commodity.
Certainly not all see it that way, but too many of the highest "powers that be" just see them as Dollar $ign$ at the box office.

JACOB; I will always remember your amazing performances.

reply

I just saw "WONDER" and will add this to the list of great performances from Jacob.

reply

Do you remember the african kid from Beasts of No Nation? He was nominated for a few awards too. I rest my case.

Abraham Attah is currently filming the new Spider Man movie.
Jacob Tremblay is working on Wonder and is getting great reviews for Burn Your Maps.
Judging by his talent which is impressive, I'd say Tremblay can have as many years in his career as he wants.

I'm saying what about the transition from child actor to... actor?

I know. And considering he has prodigious talent I believe he will have no problem having a long career if he wants it.
If he was just cute it would be different. But he isn't just cute. His work in Room was the work of an actor, not a kid actor, an actor.

Transitioning isn't always easy. Some kids dont want to transition.
Many take a "time out" to pursue a higher education. It is very difficult to reenter and pick up where you left off. Then there is that mid teen years where Hollywood can use 18+ actors to fill those roles and get around child labor laws.
I am not mentioning these things to discredit these kids in any way. Hollywood has a way of doing that.
I wish nothing but the best for Jacob and I wish him well in whatever he does in the future.
Regardless of what he does, it will never erase what he has done already. If he does continue I will more than likely continue to seek out his work.

Well, Haley Joel Osment was fantastic in The Sixth Sense but he's career is dead now.

I'm not hating, BTW. I'm just wondering.

Haley DID lose that "cuteness" factor. Not his fault of course.
I dont honestly know if it was his desire to continue in the acting field. I loved some of his movies too. Pay It Forward and Artificial Intelligence were also favorites of mine.
Hollywood has had some casualties of some very "screwed up" kids that seemed to be victims of their own fame and success. Im glad to see that Haley was not one of those kids.

I pray that Jacob will never fall into this decline. It hurts me every time I see it.
