Well, I'm guessing that the age issue will be along the lines of 1979's "A Little Romance," wherein two 12-year-olds in France run away to Venice for a kiss under the Bridge of Sighs. It's a sweet film with not a hint of sexuality between the kids in it, but they seem genuinely in love with each other.

There's quite a bit of sensuality in Moonrise Kingdom and I did feel quite awkward watching it. I too, would like to know her age because she spends a significant portion of the film in just a bra and knickers.

The movie features a level of sensuality appropriate to the experience of a 12-year-old, nothing more. There is no pedophilia needed, and being turned on by that scene says more about the viewer than it does about the filmmaker, I think. It's very naively and innocently sexual, not inherently titillating. Too many movies depict 12-year-olds as being a lot less interested in such things than they really are. It's refreshing to see something a little more honest about it.

I actually thought upon second viewing that while she looked 12-13 she could pass for a high school student; would like to cast her in my first feature if I ever get it made (it's a high school story)...

I myself would love to turn my short film into a live action film aswell, someday, and I would want Kara to be in it (by the way it's about friends who plan to sneak into their favourite bands gig)
