Colin Was Correct All Along

One of the first comments Colin Kaepernick made after his initial series of protests in 2016 was to Steve Wyche from the NFL Network.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color," Kaepernick said. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

That comment, and his continued protests, launched a thousand hateful ships, as the right wing, and even a president, spent years attacking him.

In the end, however, what we knew then, and especially know now, is that Kaepernick wasn't just right, he was prescient. What happened in the years that followed were numerous incidents of police brutality against Black and brown men.

Open your eyes.

Go lick some more boots, pig-lover!

reply

If we're talking about licking boots, wouldn't you and Kaepernick be the ones doing the licking? You're both parroting what your government and televisions tell you. So again, open your eyes to reality, and not the fantasy being painted to keep you docile.

It wasn't just the years that followed, it's been going on since forever. And police brutality is not limited to black and brown men. Cherry picking and confirmation bias play a big factor here in what is widely publicized, but police abuse all races all the time.

It's not about black vs white, it's about the state vs the individual.

Yanks can't handle free speech, despite the constant bleating by them about ''freedom''

I guess you and Colin are forgetting about all the black on white crime. There is lots. Never gets reported. But the FBI do release the statistics.

Typical racist comment.

Easy to say, impossible to prove. There is no oppression of anyone in this country. Not one law or statue permits this. He's chock full of guilt being raised by a white family.

Maybe he should find out why both Asian Americans and Indian Americans now both exceed white Americans in education and income. Seems whitey isn't doing his job..

Blacks have a serious cultural problem that is way more destructive and violent than the instances of police misconduct. In most cases the cops were justified in shooting dead the perp anyway so cry me a river.
