Booooooooooooooo boring choice for spidey

seriously why does the casting get worse and worse? never thought I would miss andrew garfield.....

GET SPIDERMAN OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL HOLLYWOOD!

reply

Ok, who would you cast?

And in reference to the "get spiderman out of high school" part, that wouldnt work for yet another origin story of spiderman. Which is what they are doing, except this time, adding him to their already established MCU.

reply

That's the problem. Another origin.
By now everyone knows who Spidey is.
So he operated in the shadows for years rounding up street thugs.
But he just couldn't sit out this new "Civil War".

"Are you that guy saving people in NY? Nick, you know him?"

"Well Cap, he was classified because we didn't know if he was on our side and couldn't keep track of him. But yeah, I know him".

Stand-alone movie introduces new enemies, some origin flashbacks.
All with a grown up Peter Parker about too get married to M.J.

reply

Oh, and someone like John Krasinsky for Peter.
Or someone similar.

reply

Isn't he too old?

reply

Maybe.

It was more for a looks reference.
The point was that I would like to see a Peter Parker between the ages 26 - 32.
He's in a relationship with M.J. and maybe they're about to get married.
Peter's still doing jobs for the Bugle, but also tries other odd jobs to earn some extra cash so he and M.J. can build a home for themselves.
All the while he's still Spider-manning all over the place.
Getting *beep* from J. Jonah, severely overworked and underpayed on his other jobs and he's getting attacked by a new *beep* villain as Spider-Man

But as for an actor, it is tough.
With Krasinsky I was thinking about the beginning of the Office wher he was around 24 years old?
Anyway, at least an actor who looks like an adult Peter Parker.
NO MORE HIGH SCHOOL OR COLLEGE!

reply

It wouldn't work in this context. If it was an older SpiderMan, where was he when New York was being destroyed? To fit this universe, it had to be a Spidey that did not have his powers back then and got them in the meantime, that's why he is so young. However, I think they are going to pass the origins with this spidey version. Let's wait and see. ;)

This Peter also got his powers in his teens.
However, his inability to save uncle Ben has haunted Peter all through his teenage years and made him self-doubting to a degree where he just does nothing with his powers.
He tries to use his powers for good from time to time but keeps falling back into his self-doubting lifestyle everytime.

The attack on NY triggered Spidey's sense of rightiousness and after talking about it with M.J. he decides to put his powers to good use.
All this time Spidey was preparing for his life of heroics helping people from within the shadows (like how the Flash was a myth up untill episode 6 -8 in the tv show), sh!t is hitting the fan in the Super Hero community.

Spidey just couldn't let it end just when he's about to fully enter the Hero-game.
Gambling it all.
Spidey finally reveals himself to the public in an attempt to end this civil war

Something like that?

reply

Wow, that is actually a quite solid explanation. You should try to write a script. ;)
I think that if they would have gone that way in Civil war, they would probably rush everything and ruin the plot(since they have so much to put into the movie). But as a solo movie would work great. :)
