I didn't really pick up on his British accent, but then again I wasn't exactly focusing on it either. Peter Parker is supposed to be from Queens, so I'm not entirely sure if he portrayed an accurate Queens/NY accent either. Let's just say that he sounded US to me, certainly not UK.
As to the CGI, it is pretty great throughout the film. There's quite a lot of action/fight scenes in the film, and the one with Spider-Man is a good 10-15 mins long.
Personally I grew up reading Spider-Man comics, and never felt that his character was done 100% right before. Tobey made a sympathetic (though some might say overtly sentimental) Peter Parker, but his Spidey was too low on humour. Garfield just felt obnoxious and nothing like the Peter Parker I grew up reading in the 80's.
Holland's portrayal seems to nail both aspects: his Spider-Man is fun and his Parker feels unassuming and good natured. Somehow he reminded me of Michael J. Fox in the BTTF films (that's a compliment btw).
I hope his stand-alone film works out well, because this Spider-Man deserves it.
