Clarification on nationality

During my journies around the interwebs, I've encountered some speculation on her nationality/ethnicity. So I basically thought I'd make a quick post clarifying a few things (or perhaps, making things even more unclear). Her father is Nepalese, and her mother Ukranian. She has lived in Katmandu and the Ukraine, but from the age of 13 to 19 she lived in Norway. She then went to the UK to study acting.

As for her actual nationality, most of her family have gained Norwegian citizenships - but as of this date, Amrita Acharia have not yet acquired this herself. Her application for citizenship has actually been turned down by the Norwegian government, and as a result (because of labour-exchange laws), her work permit in Great Britan (enabling her to work on Game of Thrones), is actually in danger. I, at least, have not seen any clarification on this subject as of yet. What small media recognition she has recieved in Norway, however, mention her as being Norwegian.

I know for a fact, btw, that she has worked on season 2 of GoT.

Thank you for that! I was wondering what her nationality and ethnicity was.

I'm sorry to hear she's having trouble with naturalization and such. Does the article say why her application for Norwegian citizenship has been turned down?

"He's already attracted to her. Time and monotony will do the rest."

Not in that article, but I found another one from a local paper with an explanation. Since she wasn't a Norwegian citizen at the time she departed for her acting studies in England - and she lived outside of Norway for several years - she was no longer "eligible" as she had "moved on" (at least on paper). The amount of appeals have been exhausted, and the decision is supposedly final. However, there are claims of misinformation and misunderstandings, so we'll just have to wait and see..

This case has gotten little to no press in Norway, so there is probably not that much incentive for Norwegian authorities to overturn the decision.

Just goes to show how silly it all is in a globalized society.

It could be either, really. It's also hard to tell from the interviews and she never openly talks about it, haha, kinda like Taylor Swift's belly button! All jokes aside, I know one thing for sure, she grew up in BABELAND! and needs to book a flight to 8.5 THICKVILLE, in Mypants, USA! Am I right, guys?!
