Dylan O'Brien Hospitalized After Being Hit by a Car on Maze Runner Set

suffered multiple injuries resulting from an accident on the set of the third film in The Maze Runner franchise, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"He was in an accident and is being treated in a local hospital," his rep told PEOPLE.

According to Variety, O'Brien, 24, was hit by car while filming.

Maze Runner screenwriter James Dashner tweeted on Friday, "I just want to let everyone know that yes, Dylan was hurt, but that he's going to be okay. Not life threatening in any way. Production is postponed but certainly not cancelled. All that matters now is that Dylan recovers. We love you, Dylan!!!"

Glad to hear that he's expected to recover. But with multiple broken bones it's likely to be a long recovery.

Hit by a car?!! How could that have happened? What are they doing on that set?

I am so glad that the director said that he will be ok! I´d hope that we could hear something from Dylan soon, too. I wonder when they will be able to continue with the filming again? The director said in his statement that he hopes that Dylan will be up and running in a few weeks time, but that sounded a bit odd to me. I mean, if Dylan got severely injured with multiple injuries, one would think that it would take a bit longer than a few weeks for him to recover. But I hope that a few weeks will be the case, of course. This Dylan seems to be one tough cookie to quote the director of the Maze-Runner series.
