If this kid dies because of this stunt

I think Hollywood should be reigned in when it comes to stunts. Lately we've had some stunt people pass away or get seriously injured. There's no reason for it in this day and age of cgi. Even if it looks terrible it's better than risking people's lives.

Though I agree if an actor loses their life over a stunt it's a damn shame but attempting to label
Hollywood responsible for the decisions of an adult actor is misguided; not to mention an entire profession revolves around the employment of stunts by employees who love what they do and probably wouldn't care for people lobbying for their profession's dissolution and substitution via CGI.

CGI stunts are neither exciting or interesting. Stunts are only of value because of the human element.

I feel tht it's not more important than life itself. What worries me about his injury is that the schedule has been pushed back meaning his prognosis has changed. Either previous under assesment of the extend of his injuries, unforeseen complications or protracted recovery. In any case it's sad for such a young person to have to go throught this. Heck I might slip in the tub tomorrow morning and snap my neck but this all seems unecessary.

But the point is it doesn't matter if you personally don't agree with it; it's not your decision if Tom Cruise wants to go climb al-Berg in the UAE for Mission Impossible, it's his decision.

reply

Well that's pretty obvious. Just like any hazard prone profession.

in the end, it is the performers decision and that of the insurance company. Look we are all responsible for what we do in life. I want to be a cop, do I want to be shot and killed? No, but if it happens its because I decided that I Was ok with that profession and that possible outcome.

I think the point is though that there should be every precaution taken to minimize and avoid the chances of and/or injury from being shot or wounded as a cop. I agree we can't protect people from their own choices but any injury in a place of work needs to serve as a call for preventing it in the future. There's no need for actors to be dying or being injured in their profession.
