she talks like a chav

annoying voice!!

reply

Transcendent insight. Don't let the door on the short bus hit you in the ass.

reply

People outside of the UK don't know what a chav is.

Necro imdb thread! shoot it in the head!

reply

Necro imdb thread!

Not necessarily. Frequenters of the defunct IMDb boards keep finding MovieChat and rediscover old -- and still relevant -- threads.

reply

posted 3 years ago. First reply 2 years ago. Second reply as hour ago. Necro thread that was first posted on imdb = necro imdb thread.

Please reread my post. Thanks. :)

How do you get trolling from what I said? It a 3 year old post by someone that is not now and has not ever been a member of movie chat. The person did not care, and obviously no one else has cared in the past 2 years. How do you get those facts to somehow morph into "hes trolling"?

Im right, thanks.

The better question is why is a problem that I point out that no one cares? In three years not a single person asked what a chav is. So what the point is directing a response to someone who was never here and will never be here? If yo have something to add, cool. But whats the point in a direct response to someone that isnt here? If he had offered up what a chav is that would have been something at least.

Its not really hard to see. Its not like you have to go looking for it. You do on the other hand have to go looking for long dead threads.

I wasnt here reading it, it was on the front page because(wait for it) he bumped a dead thread.

Also, he actually is a troll. I have zero respect for him as hes always on the wind up.

You take care.

reply

he bumped a dead thread

Actually this thread was on the first page and near the top (like one of the top 3-4 threads).

Secondly, you don't seem to grasp what I said, which is that this thread is not "dead" since (1.) someone from MovieChat posted on it two years ago; (2.) the original post was merely three years ago; (3.) the topic's still relevant; and (4.) people from the old IMDb boards are still transferring over to here. So you're point is irrelevant.

As for the dates on the original two posts, I honestly didn't even notice until you mentioned it. You're making an issue where there is none.

RE: "he actually is a troll. I have zero respect for him as hes always on the wind up."

To you, anyone who simply disagrees with your ideology is a "troll." Grow up. The word might have more impact if you stop throwing it around so casually.

reply

Anyone with a passing interest in British entertainment or culture likely does. Haven't been to England since before the term was coined and Great Britain in about half that time, and know at least a couple fellow Americans who do.

reply

Since last posting on this thread I forgot what the word meant and had to look it up again.

reply

What part of the world do you call home?

reply

Northeast USA.

reply

That's where I grew up. Not saying it's common knowledge, but without mentioning your methods that led you to claim such a general and sweeping statement, might indicate your sample size of "people outside of the UK" may not extend much beyond yourself. Not claiming this opinion as fact, of course.

reply

I'm just saying, people in my circles don't use the term. I used 'chav' in a sentence talking to my wife and she obviously didn't know what it meant. We need to get more in vogue, huh?

reply

Not my intent at all. My point was rather taking issue with stating one's opinion and/or limited knowledge and claim it as a blanket fact. A simple "imo" usually takes care of this, ime.

reply

It's a good point. I was just being amusing with the "in vogue" bit.

reply

Cheers. I got and liked yours, too. Was going to make a joke about not knowing the term might actually be more in fashion, but gave up after a minute of trying.
