he ate a lot of meat

veggies weren't a thing back in the 16th century

reply

Incorrect.

The wealthy did consume a lot of animals but they also started to consume a lot of luxury high sugar foods this and limited mobility is the reason he gained so much weight.

Vegetables was around but it's not like modern day which have been modified back then it was still based on seasons so limited times they would grow plus the poor would have mostly the scraps which went in things like broths/soups.

A lot of people have listened to mainstream to much regarding this man a lot of it is false stories and the issue with history most of it is written in biased way either extreme pro or con.

Some one mentioned Gout you wont get this on animal only diet.

it was very tough to get sugar back then. sugarcane was not available in england in 1520.

reply

Another incorrect statement.

High class and Royals had access to lots of sugar luxury foods and you know carbs = sugar right so yes that would include grains, veg, fruit as well.

mixing fat with sugar/carbs is terrible for your health.

reply

the refined sugar intake in 1521 was much lower than it is in 2021. it was not readily available and there was no candy bars and twinkies.

reply

So what doesn't matter it's not healthy.

Why do you keep switching the terms for sugar it makes no difference sugar is sugar no matter the name you use and as stated before it was available poor people consumed mostly grains and some veg well that is all sugar the Royals and Higher class would of had their sugar foods with high fat foods this is even worse for your health.

Do some real research you are just being an idiot cane sugar was available in England almost 500 years before 1521

reply

type 2 diabetes was unheard of until refined sugar became available. there were sugar shortages in the 1930s in some parts of canada and the usa. my parents told me you were lucky to have enough sugar to make a cake once or twice a month.

reply

Another useless point from you.

You keep looping round and round with useless info.

Carbs = Sugar go and learn some science it has nothing to do with with refined sugar yes we consume far more carbs in the modern day so what this is discussion/thread is nothing to do with modern day this is about a king from back in 1400-1500 who had health issues (evidence shows he had syphilis they didn't know that back then) plus gained lots of weight and your false claims to begin with about no veg back then.

Diabetes has been around in BC times again advancements in science is the reason we now have the label as Type 2 so again meaningless.

If what you are saying is true regarding the refined sugars shortage good humans have no need for any type of sugar to be consumed in diet.
