Is her accent in Game of Thrones her natural accent?

I'm not very good at distinguishing accents. I haven't seen Downton Abbey and I've only seen clips of interviews with her, but it seems like she puts on a bit of a different accent on Game of Thrones.

Thoughts? I can't figure it out.

Her natural accent is very London-ish, therefore nothing like her accent in GOT as that is a very very northern accent.

She is from Scotland, however I believe she studied down south in London so she has a very well spoke southern accent.

If you search her name + interview on youtube you can hear her natural accent.

She's Scottish? Whaaaaaaat?

No kidding, I thought she was English.

Thanks for the info!

My wife is Scottish, and I can say without a doubt that the accent she uses in Downton Abbey and GOT is NOT a Scottish one. My wife thinks she is from around the Manchester area, certainly northern England, but not Scotland at all.

She is Scottish but she went to a English prep school then an English Drama School hence her English accent.

She actually mentions her accent and being from Scotland here:

Well, she confirms herself that she has lost her Scottish accent and said she was doing a Northern accent as in Northern England, so that's likely something from Yorkshire, Manchester. But she herself sounds more from London.

Ironically she is from a landed (noble?) Scottish family and yet is know for portraying a maid and a wildling!

No kidding, I thought she was English.

i was thinking she was either Scottish or Irish (or some variation of those as those two sound pretty similar) myself by listening to her as her accent is hot adds to her attractiveness.

English accents generally are not appealing if you ask me so that's why i just assumed her accent in Game of Thrones is not English.

The accent she uses in GOT is a Yorkshire one. I'd locate it to York, specifically, whereas Sean Bean sounds like he is from Sheffield, which is in Yorkshire but there is a difference between there and York specifically when it comes to dialects.
