Easily the best young director out there.

First we got Whiplash, an absolutely electrifying film with one of the most magnificently exciting endings ever.

Then we get La La Land, a beautiful film about dreams and a love letter to LA, with one of the most gut wrenchingly bittersweet endings ever. My mom saw this and literally SOBBED the entire drive home.

Chazelle has knocked it out of the park twice, and seems to excel at NAILING endings. In terms of new directors, he seems to be the most promising. A last light--a fiery, shining light--in the gasping, moldy sack that Hollywood has become.

Let's just hope he doesn't pull an M Night Shyamalan lol.

It's better to be a Nolan fanboy, cause he's far more acclaimed filmmaker, who writes his own scripts and produces his own movies, not just directs.

Don't think what? That Nolan is more acclaimed filmmaker? Or that he writes his own scriptss? Produces? It's all facts, my friend. ;)

chazelle wrote the scripts too, and he is a less experienced director. pluz, i think nolan is super overrated, he is a well acclaimed director in his fans group without doubts. you are a faithful follower of nolan come to another younger director's board, what you expect to get from here, other nolan worshipers like you? lol

Nolan also revealed that in terms of works from young filmmakers that he admires, he "really loved Whiplash last year."

"I thought that was an incredible piece of work," he said. "That was the kind of film where when you see it, it's very precisely put together, and you're very jealous."

chazelle will do well or not in a film not about music, we dont know now but time will tell. we are done here

Speaking from a non bias point of view.. Nolan is better .. No doubt about it. Chazelle is young though time will tell if he reaches the same heights as Nolan. Chazelle is definitely a very talented young filmmaker.

Nolan is exactly what Shyamalan would be if he had lucked out to do a Batman movie. I am sorry, I like him, but he is exactly the most overrated filmmaker working right now. He is good when he is in his comfort zone, but his action scenes leave a lot to be desired and he can't direct comedy even if his life depends on it, not to mention the fact that his color palette is incredibly poor and he can't use music in his movies.

Chazelle so far has shown much more promise, to be honest. At the very least, he can use colors and music.
