Chris O Donnell Syndrome

Trying hard to make him a serious star who is supposed to be this great versatile actor. I didn't care about Thor the movie never watched it never will, he is riding on his brothers coattail, the fact that he tried for Thor and it went to his older sibling isn't surprising physically of course he didn't fit, and his eyes are like his brothers but that's it. The last song was okay, he blew up when the hunger games came up then went, I didn't realize he was in it until seeing him in pics at a premiere and putting two and two together, and then when to watch first and realized he had a small role that was hyped like he was a lead supporting role but it wasn't just a secondary minor character. Before him was Armie Hammer no need to explain why. He is added to a list of actors they tried to make out to be the best thing since the iPod was created, but in this case like others before and after him he's more like MySpace hot for a while, only to be outshined and better received by Facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. He looks nothing like Chris except his eye shape and color.

I read a sentence and a half and stopped. I'm going to assume you were likening him to Chris O' Donnell in which case I would say that O'Donnell, while not an amazing lead actor, was at least highly competent in supporting roles. As a bonus, he could act. As for Liam, he's just...well, devoid of any screen charisma whatsoever.

Take a writing class when you hit high school. It's like reading a sentence from one of those handicap kids who use a pointer. Punctuation matters.

And who cares what you think of him? You don't care about Thor? Never saw it? Then you get no opinion.

Chris O'donnell is fantastic. His show has been on the air for 10 years. Scent of a Woman was an awesome movie. I loved Circle of Friends and Fried Green Tomatoes as well. The Bachelor...eeeeh.

I knew who Liam was long before his brother. So I'm not sure about coat tails. And yes, it's plural.

Just checked their filmography. Liam was in The Last Song the year before Thor. Chris was in Austraillian television. So Chris actually followed Liam to the big screen.

Oh shut up man.

I agree with what your saying. Respect to him for getting to where he is at the moment, but I'm looking at the guy wondering how he could be the best talent on offer. Even looks-wise I can't really see it.

I guess it comes down to Hollywood studios worrying about securing a sure thing. Which makes sense if you look at his career: he starred in a film with Miley Cyrus, dated her which likely contributed to him getting his role in the hunger games (same target market who'd be into Miley at the time), and from there has been given a shot in some other movies. The problem is he simply just doesn't seem to sell it; I'm sure he's a nice bloke, but he doesn't seem like a movie star (although very few actors of the past 10 years or so do).

Sorry, just being pedantic. But the filmography in IMDb is misleading. The year mentioned next to the movie project is the year of release, not when it was made.

Chris moved to LA in 2007 and then made 3 movies in quick succession. Ca$h, A Perfect Getaway and Star Trek were all made 2007 - 2008. Then he made A Cabin in the Woods - 2009, as Star Trek was being released. The other movies had delayed releases. So for a lot of people it looks like Thor was the first movie he ever made, when in fact it was the 5th.
