Dev is lanky and nerdy looking. Freida plays the cute girl in every movie and that has an audience.

And yes, she cannot act for her life.

I actually think she has improved. Her performance in Trishna was really good.

Yeah and people should totally take your opinion seriously considering you "have not seen all her work" and are bellowing hyperbolically about her as if she murdered your children or something .

Done "NOTHING" to deserve the media attention? "CANNOT" act? You say these things as if they're verging on fact when you admit to not even seeing her very much of her work.
She's getting quite a few strong reviews for Trishna. All the roles you listed were not meaty or particularly interesting; they were basically eye-candy roles. In Slumdog her role was more of a Mary Sue. It worked for the film but didn't call for much except for her to look serene and pretty. Yet you rag on her for being eye candy? Rag on hollywood or society or the fact that they're aren't enough interesting roles for women of color in films. Don't go yelling on the internet in capital letters about a woman you barely know as if she's wounded you personally.

Meanwhile, she's been cast in a Terrence Malick film and he's famously exacting and specific in the casting and filmmaking process, so clearly peoples whose opinions actually matter on this subject disagree with you.

Dev should be the media darling, not her.

Ohhhh I get it. Your jealous. Now it all falls into place.

Calm down. Are you Dev?

@pinkangel

Hold up,wait a minute----if you think she can't act---go rent out the film MIRAL--that alone would prove you wrong--she had to hold up nearly the whole film since she was the star---unfortunately, probably not a lot of folks have seen it due to the fact that her character is a would-be terrorist, which kept the film from getting distributed insome quarters, I think. Um, she's been in at least several films since then, plus a Woody Allen flick! So shut up and quit hating, because that's all you're doing!

Wow. That petty last line just discredits your entire post. Congrats.

Nope, and the fact that you just made that accusation discredits your entire post. Congrats!
You say something as immature as "Dev should be the media darling, not her," something totally off-base and off-topic, and you fault me for extrapolating that you have some deep emotional issue at stake here? If you feel the need to pass an all-knowing judgment on who deserves the attention here and who doesn't, something incredibly arbitrary, subjective, and meaningless, it's perfectly valid to assume it was jealousy. Dev has nothing to do with Freida's acting talent, so to go SO off-topic like that indicates that them being a couple is something that somehow gets to you, that that's on your mind. Or that you were talking about them both having been in Slumdog Millionaire. I just assumed one over the other. A perfectly valid thing to assume. I concede that I probably shouldn't have actually said it however, because even though it's valid it's also a little mean spirited, but your entire first post and thread title was INCREDIBLY mean spirited, lacking in substance, and just plain rude. You made a loud obnoxious claim that "She CANNOT act" and then admitted to have next to nothing to back it up. I just reacted to your general rudeness.

In fact, I'm excited to see her tackle Trishna, but you also kinda proved my point that her real acting chops (i.e. Miral) haven't really been seen by the general public so most people aren't really judging her off of that.

LOL now THAT line just discredits your entire post. Congrats! You just displayed a stunning lack of basic logic. You were criticizing HER, not the media attention of her by itself. You said SHE was undeserving, that SHE needed to step it up. If your issue is that the general public hasn't seen her really act and that the media attention of her is thus not right or fair, then that's a criticism of the general public and the media, not of her. The fact that you can't see that discredits your entire argument. Your trying to take the media attention of her, which is an entirely separate thing, and somehow tie it to a personal fault that she has. The only fault you could perhaps come to based on the things you've said is that she's too self-promoting, not undeserving, but that's a criticism valid for all actresses. And moreover in many of her interviews she says over and over how she's trying to get good roles and improve as an actress so I could argue that the self-promotion is necessary for her to get the roles to focus on the acting.
I didn't prove your point at all, mostly because your entire argument is poorly structured and makes no sense. Your point was that SHE doesn't deserve the media attention. If she actually has done some good work, it doesn't matter whether people have seen it or not. That work still exists and points to her talent and indicates that she is deserving of this attention because she actually is a good actress. Your trying to prove your point with two entirely different arguments, conclusions and two entirely different premises and pretending that it's all one argument. That's just bad logic.

And finally, all art is subjective. Even if you watch Trishna and hate her performance that still doesn't mean "She CANNOT act." It just means you didn't like her. Conversely, the critics giving her good reviews for Trishna do not constitute some objective opinion. There is no objective truth here, just a whole bunch of subjective opinions. In 100 years she could be vilified as the worst actress in the history of time, or the best. And then a hundred years later the opposite could be true. It's all just norms and subjectivity and there is no point in arguing about it because there's no truth here. It's certainly not the type of thing that you can declare all-knowingly that "She CANNOT act" about.
You will never prove that she is undeserving of the attention, or that the media attention isn't fair. But at least next time choose one or the other and try to be consistent and structure your argument better; then, even if you can't prove your right, you'll at least know you were logical.

It's an informal opinion on imdb...I really didn't care that much, but you clearly do. To each his own.
