Yes, not everyone in India has the same accent. Fine. But her voice doesn’t sound like any of the typical Indian accents. It just sounds British.

Because India was under British colonial rule, so British English is taught, not American English.

No, it's because she puts on a fake accent because people complained that they couldn't understand what she was saying when she was promoting Slumdog with her natural accent.

I said nothing about American English.

Indian English is only “British” in the sense that it follows Commonwealth spellings and some terms like “lift” instead of “elevator,” etc. Otherwise it is Indian.

I have lived in India for extended periods.

As I said, her English accent does not strike me as an Indian accent, but rather as something put on / created, and which sounds more British.
