Don't you guys think she's below average by Indian actress/model standards?No, most Indian models and actresses are average or even ugly without their hundred pounds of makeup, hundred watt lighting, camera tricks/angles and digital editing (both on photos and film). I used to think they were until the age of the Internet with super HQ pictures came along and I saw what most of them really look like. Freida is average/cute, but better to be average/cute than hideous without your fake mask (or even hideous with it).

She's trumped up by White people because she's "exotic". I cringe when they use that word, it's embarrassing. I guess they do it to assuage their white guilt or may show people how open-minded they are?No, many people (white and other) genuinely think she's pretty. She looked cute in Slumdog Millionaire and she looks cute in her interviews. I think what people here like most about her, in terms of looks, is her angular face, which is very rare among Indians. Most Indians have stocky faces lacking angles and facial definition.

I see better looking Indian girls than her in New York every week. I agree that there are better-looking Indian girls on the street (not sure about New York, but in Delhi definitely), but I say that about so-called Indian "beauties" as well.

Well, I think you're exaggerating quite a bit. I don't think they're hideous at all. All models/actresses have bad pictures of them without makeup, but I've seen a few of these girls at the airport/clubs/restaurants etc on my trips back to India and they look way better than Freida.

Well, I think you're exaggerating quite a bit. I don't think they're hideous at all. Name names. Because I've seen Priyanka Chopra and Bipasha Basu without makeup and I was disgusted, especially because I used to think they were actually beautiful. It's just rare on Indians and makes her more appealing internationally because Indians are known for having round faces. And Freida is NOT exceptionally beautiful; she is just cute and being "exotic" probably helps to get attention. Plus the angular face, non-Hindu name, good styling and small nose (that most Indians lack) help.

I've seen Bipasha Basu -- agree with you there, she's definitely unattractive without makeup. Also Katrina Kaif and Neha Dhupia -- both are smoking hot!! But then again, KK is not really Indian is she??

You're right about the stocky face, we do tend to have round faces -- now I'm feeling self-conscious :-(. But please don't compare my lifelong crush Aishwarya Rai to Freida Pinto. It's an insult! Plus isn't Rai almost 40 now?
