what happened to her career?

Seriously, what happened to her? She did True Grit, in which she displayed a good, if somewhat overrated performance. Nonetheless, the role got her massive critical acclaim and buzz and she even landed an Oscar nomination so why hasn't she done anything noteworthy since then(other than Ender's Game, I guess)? She clearly has potential, and was quite strong on Hollywood's radar for a while, but she seems to have just faded off in the field of acting and seems more interested in becoming a mediocre teen pop artist instead. Seriously, Hailee, just what and why?

And what happened with your career? And btw how old are you?

Sixteen. And I haven't really gotten a real job yet other than occasionally assisting my father at his shop on busy days. I do have genuine ambitions for my future, though. Let me guess, now you are gonna laugh at what a "loser" I am compared to Hailee. Yeah, real classy and mature. Now what do you do?

They were just asking a question, not talking trash about her. Why are you so defensive about it?

I think it's fair to say that she hasn't lived up to expectations and probably never will. I just don't think that she is that dedicated to her acting career, she seems to be interested in pursuing other passions which is fine and good for her. I think everyone should lower their expectations and not expect to see another true grit out of her.

This. Kids grow up and want different things. Many great young actresses seem to want to sing these days.
