Sometimes its impossible to meet our parents' very lofty expectations and the expectations of society at large. Failing these lofty expectations the love that our parents feel for us kicks in and makes the difference and overwhelms us.

At least that's the ideal and how it is in most families. I think its possible that in some families the love of one parent is based upon how we turn out. Their acceptance of us is not based upon WHO we are but WHAT we are. That can be hard to live up to. Its up to them to find a way not up to us to bend to their will.
