An Appreciation Thread for Aidan Turner's ACTING Muscles

Enough with the pectorals in that scything scene! That is not where it begins and ends with him! This guy does all these little bitty things that take his performances to a whole new level. I don't know if he's a student of body language, human nature, or both, but he fires on all cylinders in front of the camera.

Here are a few examples from Poldark:

1. There's a scene in Series 2 Episode 2 when Ross helps Elizabeth clean up after the harvest party. While talking to Elizabeth he looks into her eyes, and then (here's the little thing) he starts looking at her lips. When a man does that, it's a subconscious move that shows he's highly attracted to the woman.

2. In emotionally charged scenes (Ross walking into the church yard carrying Julia's coffin and the stocking scene with Demelza are two examples), he slightly opens his mouth. It's almost like the moment is so intense for the character he can't breath enough through his nose, so he's got to take in air through his mouth. I could be wrong about the motivation behind this, and I probably am, but it's effective whatever his reason is.

3. He sometimes gets that love-drunk look on his face in love scenes with Demelza, especially in that stocking scene in Series 2 Episode 6 (which is the HOTTEST love scene ever put on a screen, large or small, in the history of screens, and ironically enough, they put on MORE clothing during it, not less). He is so into the moment, I swear he looks like he's seriously in love with this woman for real!

He's an amazing, amazing actor who clearly puts much thought into bringing a multi-layered performance to the screen. I hope Emmy, BAFTA, and Oscar take notice one day soon.

*I named this post an appreciation thread and not an appreciation post in the hopes that someone will respond. I still hate IMDb for what they did to the message boards.
