It has been very exciting! I'm not in the UK but have been able to get it online. In the US on PBS, the second season starts this Sunday with the first two episodes together, which I think was very good planning. They are inextricably linked after all.

Edit: If you want to see the first episode of the second season again, at least in my area, the Central Valley of CA, they're running it again at 7:00 this Sunday and then showing the next episode at 9:00, so it's going to run for three hours. The same may happen in other markets. Time for a Poldark fest! The lovely thing about this is that I don't believe they made any cuts like they did in season one. This is great news, because it's all just so well done you don't want to miss any of it.

There's just a whole lot all of a sudden to read about the new season! Here's another in Parade. I'm hoping this means it'll be in Sunday's paper: http://parade.com/509791/paulettecohn/aidan-turner-talks-romantic-hero-ross-poldarks-perilous-journey-in-season-2-of-poldark/

More news about season two and an interview with Aidan: http://collider.com/poldark-season-2-aidan-turner-interview/ This is a great article, but you might want to wait until you've seen maybe five episodes before you read it since there are spoilers.

Episodes 1 and 2 were aired tonight on PBS, and it was really great to see them, and I didn't think they had even cut anything this time although I could be wrong. But I have to say, Ross's speech at the trial was simply amazing! There's nothing like a passionate monologue delivered flawlessly to make the old heart pound. I certainly hope everyone had a chance to see it. If not, it will probably be repeated this week sometime. Check your local listings. It looked gorgeous in HD (much better than the computer feeds I've been getting). I'm still in awe of this entire production, and they couldn't have chosen a better leading man!

. . . they couldn't have chosen a better leading man!

That is the understatement of the season!

That FACE, and that BODY, and that HAIR, and those EYES, and that VOICE, and his ability to walk, ride, and move as a symphony, AND he is a superb actor. WOW!!!

I hope he plays "heroic" characters forever; larger-than-life, and doesn't fall into the false notion that he has to be a "miserable rat" to achieve his zenith as an actor.

I would like to see him as (a) James Bond, (2) Beowulf, (3) Maxim de Winter in "Rebecca," (4) D'Artagnan in "The Three Musketeers," (5) Mr. Darcy in "Pride and Prejudice," (6) Colonel Brandon in "Sense and Sensibility," (7) Robin Hood, (8) Lafayette, (9) Alexander Hamilton, and (10) Tarzan, . . . . . . for starters.

He is absolutely yummy!

and his ability to walk, ride, and move as a symphony, I was just thinking the same thing when I was watching the latest Poldark episode. He was riding his horse and delivering his lines to someone, and it all looked and sounded completely natural. I always feel with Poldark that I'm looking back in time, through some sort of magic window, it all seems so real and authentic. The creators may be aware of how good it is, they do have eyes and ears after all, but I just wish everyone else knew. I told my brother today I thought it was the best thing I've ever seen on TV, and I've seen a lot of great stuff over the years.

As for your list of characters, I agree on most of them, but isn't he a little too good-looking to play Colonel Brandon? Wasn't he supposed to be not so dashing as Mr. Willoughby? He's probably too dashing to play Edward Ferrars although I'm sure he'd be great in the part. And actually, he might be perfect to play Mr. Willoughby, although I'm with you about not wanting him to play bad guys. He has done that, of course, but I prefer him in heroic roles. But now that I'm thinking about it, he would make a perfect Wickham (much better than Adrian Lukis was) in his red coat, which I thought looked fabulous on him in Poldark. There was a discussion about his playing Mr. Darcy on this board some time ago, but I don't think they're redoing P&P anytime soon, so it probably isn't available, and actually he might be too handsome for that part, too, though I'd take him. ::snicker:: Now, Tarzan, that I really could go for! LOL Yum! Absolutely!
