I think he needs 5 more years before playing Bond.

Action movies are different from 20 years ago. They are more of a young man's game. Most of the Batmans, Supermans, Spider-Man's and many of the other Marvel action heroes like Thor and Iron Man are going to actors in their mid to late 20s and thirties (in the last 20 years). There's a reason why Daniel Craig got hurt so often in the last Bond film. The standards for intense action scene are pretty high. He's in his late 40s and it's going to be tough to compete with the 20 and 30 somethings. In my opinion mid 30s to mid 40s is prime time for playing Bond. Aidan is the right age and is ready.

Either now or in five years is fine with me. He is pretty committed to doing the Poldark series, so we'll get to see him in that for years. Perhaps by the time he's finished, he can do Bond, and he'll probably be famous enough by then he will draw an audience. But I certainly wouldn't mind if he got the role before then.
