Go in the bathroom, look in the mirror, and quickly turn the lights on and off. Your pupils get bigger and smaller based on how much light is in the room

Well yes, of course.

I don't think the OP is unaware of how and why a pupil dilates, but the fact that her left eyes pupil is larger than the right in the same light and consistently is unusual unless someone is constantly shinning a light directly at that specific eye.

She recently stated that she had an eye injury and had to wear a patch over her eye so I suspect this is the reason.

"I just had this injury so I had this eye patch on. It was kind of embarrassing"

I'm going to assume this is the case, because I've just seen two videos of her talking about Supergirl where the left eye pupil is still larger and dilated in relation to the right.

When I checked for head-shots it doesn't appear to be the case as both pupils appear to be the same size, so a recent eye injury explains the unusual size.

Her eye

Just noticed this in some of her Supergirl interviews.

Her left eye's pupil seems dilated and larger in size when compared to the right one. She did mention not too long ago that during the time she was getting prepared to suit up for the role she was wearing an eye-patch due to an eye injury.

"I just had this injury so I had this eye patch on. It was kind of embarrassing"

So this could explain why when you check for past photos of her, the pupils are equal in size.

Wearing an eye patch for a while due to an eye injury could result in the temporary dilation of one of her pupils.

I'm guessing the patch was on that eye and it's still a bit sensitive to light.

Good catch, though! 👍

You were really studying her face unusually closely. Why not? It isn't hard to do.

Sometimes if you injured your eye as a child , your pupils may not be the same or react to light to light the same way.

She reported an injury in February shortly before she started super girl, per an interview I just read.

I too noticed the squinted left eye in the main picture on the IMDb page for supergirl, and when you go close its obvious her left eye is very very dilated, while her right eye is constricted tight from the usual bright lighting they use for photos.

Since it is NOT typical thing, I googled imaged and it's obvious it's a new injury. I really hope it's not permanent. It doesn't detract from her looks or performance in any way, but it would be troublesome and painful for her in any bright light (think about when they dilate your eyes for an eye exam and you go outside. Big halos and painful so you have to wear sunglasses.

Anisocoria as a result of a recent eye injury. Temporary or permanent. Hopefully it will return to normal, but sometimes it doesn't. A friend of mine has had a semi-dilated pupil for 20 years or so after medical negligence. David Bowie had one super-dilated pupil as a result of a friend hitting him when he was 15 (over a girl). This led many people to believe he had differently colored eyes (heterochromia). Alice Eve has heterochromia and has been known to remark "just like David Bowie!", but she's mistaken. He could still see just fine on the eye but he said everything was yellow tinted.
