If Carano is successful, it paves the way for deadbeats..

...to sue to get things they weren't entitled or contracted to get purely on the theoretical basis that being criticised online denied them it.

And sets a precedent for people being rewarded without doing the work required because that work is "excessive" in their opinion.

What American court is going to legislate that kind of commie gobbledygook though?

The USA has been cultivating and allowing commie gobbledygook frivolous lawsuits for deadbeats for decades, its the world leader in it.
This is just the latest phase ....

Lawsuits such as? A successful one, of course.

I am well aware of the popularity of frivolous lawsuits. But I don't think you've fully understood the significance of a precedent of "commie" gobbledygook.

None of those are comparable to Carano's case except the woman suing the people who sold them liquor because they got a hangover from drinking too much. She's experiencing the consequences of her own actions. But unlike Carano, she isn't demanding more booze.

Carano's demands suggests that her hopes and expectations of further appearances are somehow owed to her through some sort of tacit understanding (i.e. wishful thinking) and Disney are responsible for the fact that they have not been fulfilled. But she has sued for wrongful termination which requires that something was materially in place and has been withdrawn or ended prematurely. We know that is not the case though.

In order for Carano to be awarded what she claims she wants, a court would have to rule that future contracts of employment (and specifically) in the case of a film/tv actor, appearances and projects involving them) are an entitlement. And that nothing should influence a current employer to not rehire the same person in the future.

There will be a lot of scammers for sure. That said Gina has a good chance of winning, because Disney is a sinking ship, she is backed by Elon Musk money, and you can bet your bottom dollar he has a legal team hand picked to handle these cases, and they will throw out the scammers.

reply

If she had not contract or agreement for the future roles she expects to get from this then she hasn't a leg to stand on.

She is not arguing she had a contract or any entitlement. She is basically just saying that people don't like her and it's not fair.

reply

She has no chance of winning. Her contract with Disney was not renewed by Disney. She also cannot compel them to cast her in something else.
