Actors aren't just paid to act, you know.

They're also paid to do whatever they can to draw in viewers, which is why they do press and appear on talk shows. That's a well-known part of the job, and actors who won't do publicity miss out on a lot of offers, and refraining from driving away viewers is also a well-known part of the job. Especially if an actor has a long-term contract with Disney! They are known to be control freaks about publicity and to try to make their actors follow the company line in public.

Carano has been very foolish through all of this. Not for shooting her mouth off, which nobody can stop her from doing, but for shooting her mouth off while working for *Disney*, and doing so while playing a role where she could be written out at any time with no change in the show. Sure, I liked her character, but she's just someone Mando sees now and then. If he doesn't see her again, well, it's not like she was important to him.

reply

If only they didn't cancel Parler she would've been able to say what she wanted to say on a free and open platform, KEK!

reply

Oh, she's totally free to say what she wants!

She's just not free from blowback, from the public or from her employers. Just like everyone else.

reply

The leftists new go to excuse to justify cancel culture. Bravo, you're a good NPC and your program is running well!

You could use this lame line to justify about everything. And that is wrong.

It isn't right that people lose their jobs over a harmless tweet. She didn't hurt or insult anyone, she called for unity, not division. And she gets fired.

Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal can post tweets calling every single Trump supporter a Nazi and post pictures of Jews in CONCENTRATION CAMPS next to an image of some kids in cages (Mexican border) and is allowed to draw this asinine comparison with not only zero backlash from the woke brigade, but praising.

Carano got the boot immediately.

This isn't "blowback", this is hypocrisy and totalitarian, and brainless NPC like you who don't understand this are the problem because the army you belong to lets it all happen. Good fucking job, so progressive!

reply

The picture is not of kids at border. Is not even of events from USA ...

reply

Which makes it even more hilarious.

reply

Im not even a conservatives and i do get sick of this excuse. If we didn't have the 1st Amendment in the USA. They probably be advocating for anyone with wrong opinion or thoughts to be put in jail.

reply

It's against their programming to impersonate a logical person. It just wouldn't be proper.

reply

Like when Pedro Pascal called Republicans Nazis? But hey, that's fine in (woke) Disney's book.

Given how many people in Hollywood has systematically insulted 50% of the country, complaining about the far more moderate tweets of Gina Carano sounds like a bad excuse.

reply

And he also stated that illegal immigrant camps are the same as Jewish concentration camps.

reply

Absolutely, it shows the liberal double standards. They can say whatever vile, vicious remarks they want against Republicans while expecting everyone else to tiptoe around their fragile little feelings. It’s disgusting

reply

True. But we don't know whether or not he was talked to about that or not.

Maybe Pascal was told to stop with the inflammatory posts and he stopped, when Carano kept going.

There's no way to know for sure, but it is possible.

reply

If anyone thought her tweets were "inflammatory" or you found them offensive then that is on them, not her.

Not a single tweet she made was worthy of her being fired, not one.

Offense can only be taken, never given.

reply

I personally don't think she should have been fired unless her antics were starting to negatively effect the show's bottom line. At the time, they weren't. The show was successful and her merchandise selling.

However, I do think it's possible both she and Pascal were warned. If Pascal complied and she defied the warning, then I can see why they felt compelled to pull the trigger.

reply

So how long will it take to fire Pablo Hidalgo (artist) who attacks fans regularly.

So how long will it take to fire the High republic author for calling all white fans and white people in general Racists.

Rian Johnson attacked fans for years and nothing happened to him.

Katheen kennedy herself attacked fans.

But the one and I repeat for context, the one right leaning employee gets fired for doing nothing more than sharing and liking a few tweets. These are only the ones I can think off ofhand, their are more examples.

reply

Hidalgo was made to apologize and hasn't raised waves since then.

Wasn't the High Republic author's shenanigans posts from before she was hired?

Rian Johnson's trilogy is likely dead in the water. Anything he does is moot unless he has another project going, at which point they'll hopefully put a muzzle on him.

Kennedy, for the moment, is in charge. So she has the most leeway to be a shithead.

reply

This is true ... but it is rarely applied to the Left. Consequences are for those who don't follow the narrative. If you are a Progressive then you can say whatever vile things you want. You can even rape or marry your adopted daughter. You career will be fine. How many celebs shoot their mouth off about politics? Tons. The only ones getting cancelled are the Cons.

reply

Untrue

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Chicks_controversy

reply

You will note that I did not say never. I said "rarely." I was specifically thinking of the Dixie Chicks as an example and maaaybe Kathy Griffin as another (but she didn't really have anything to cancel). Can't think of any others though.

reply

The problem is that conservatives have jobs and don't have the time to piss away tweeting about how outraged they are when some left leaning loon says something offensive. Meanwhile their is an army of basement dwelling welfare sucking liberal with nothing but spare time to scream and squawk about everything that even remotely upsets them. Maybe the best solution is for some rich conservatives to hire a bunch of people to gripe and grumble every time a left leaning turd says something... maybe once everyone was getting cancelled the ignorance of the cancel culture would be exposed and society could walk away from it once and for all.

reply

and don't have the time to piss away tweeting about how outraged they are
you must be shitting me!
whos writing the constant stream of
"loony lefty "
"lefty agenda"
"woke brigade "
"cancel culture"

manbaby whining that makes up about 50% of the traffic on this site?

reply

This isn't twitter now is it. Or are you too fucking stupid to realize that.

reply

That did cross my mind, but i thought it went without saying that that doesent make any difference.

It takes just as long to spout racist mysogenistic hate on this , or any other site , as it does on Twitter.
So your point about busy employed conservatives doesent stand.
... or are all the conservatives who post on this site unemployed bums?

reply

You assume that everyone is willing to sign up for twitter. They aren't. Lots of people refuse to use twitter if for no other reason than they don't want to help the likes of Jack Dorsey make more money.

reply

right wingers rant on twitter all day. wtf are you talking about? are you even on it?

reply

Right wingers could be on twitter if they wanted, twitter bans anyone that isn't a liberal stooge

reply

Why do you keep insisting there are no conservatives on twitter? Again, do you even use it?

reply

Why do you think there are?

reply

Because you can fucking see their posts?! Geez, do you think Twitter is some sort of secret party á la Eyes Wide Shut you need to get invited to get in?

reply

conservatives can't see posts on twitter because they don't use twitter. Only liberals use it, which is what you are.

reply

You are a braindead moron.

reply

It's rarely applied to the left because it's a capitalism issue.

Whenever a right-winger is caught saying inflammatory things, it opens their employer up to heavy criticism and boycotts. When a leftist goes full "woke", it requires an excessive amount of tone to negatively impact the business.

The unfortunate reality for anti-wok conservatives is that wokeness isn't just some leftist agenda. It's propagated by capitalistic board meetings who decide how to maximize their profits by promoting to as many cultures as possible. And as soon as an employee is caught pushing against it, that can put a company on edge, ready to wield the axe.

If you go outside your place of work to the street and start yelling at cars driving by that masks don't work, or liberals stole the election, and your boss hears it by driving by and then fires you, instead of sympathy you get the "well no shit" award.

Now compare that with going outside your work to the street and yelling at cars driving by that there are more than two genders. Your boss might not like it personally, but from a business standpoint he's not going to care that you are being more inclusive.

Also, Carano has made multiple posts. And she was warned in between.

reply

Woody Allen marrying his adopted daughter. Still got work. Roman Pollanski was given an award after he fled the country on underage rape charges.

Funny what examples you cite for the "Left." Plenty bosses would fire someone for shouting accusations of Nazism curbside. But, as always, McCoys know that the Hatfields are wrong and evil, and Hatfields know that the McCoys are wrong and evil.

You say she was warned. Warned about wrongthink?

reply

Marrying your adopted daughter is weird, but it's just not weird enough for a huge swath of people to care whether a production is sympathetic to legal marriages with adopted daughters.

There's no committee or regulating body to prevent all awards from being given to certain individuals. I can give a lifetime achievement award to Hitler, and nobody can do anything about it.

A better example is the leftist shouting Nazi at the truck with the confederate flag on it. The boss then examines the situation, "do I side with the leftist, or the guy with the confederate flag?" Whether the leftist gets fired or not is a capitalism issue. The boss weighs whether its better for business to oppose the leftist or oppose the confederate flag. And if there is no confed flag on the truck and the leftist is just yelling Nazi for no reason (you pretend this is what happens on twitter but it really doesn't), the choice is clear that firing the vitriolic leftist is better for business. Again, a capitalism issue. There's no getting around it.

reply

The ratings and perception of recent shows rather point to the opposite. People are fed up with woke entertainment and voting with their wallets. Nearly 50% in the US are conservative minded people so your capitalism argument falls short.

reply

Bad ratings of shows are because of bad shows. Plain and simple.

Mandalorian isn't going to crash and burn because they went full woke and fired Carano. Not even close. You wouldn't touch that bet with a 10 mile pole.

As far as content, WandaVision is just as "woke" as any other. It's #1 right now because it's executed properly.

reply

Wandavision fails and the other series made a lot of profit before they gone woke. So wokeness dies at movies. Like it or not, but your hatefilled ideology is nothing else then a problem for humans and companies.

reply

Movies aren't failing more today than they were failing 20 years ago. They fail at the same rate. Yet your argument is movies are more woke now.

You can't find an example of a good movie failing because it was too politically woke. All you do is pick a bad movie that failed because it was bad, and blame its badness on wokeness. Yet any movie you pick, I'm going to agree was bad. If it's bad because it's woke, then I shouldn't be able to see what's wrong with it, right?

Your argument completely falls apart no matter what angle you use to defend it.

reply

No bias there.

reply

No bias here. A confed flag sticker on a truck is not worthy of someone calling the driver a Nazi. Yet that's the crap that twitter is inundated with. I'm just explaining why it gets a pass. Even with something as pointless as a confederate flag, it's better for businesses (in most areas) to oppose it than to support it. That's why Walmart, Amazon and Sears stopped selling them.

reply

nice edit

reply

Confederate flags were waved by those who supported slavery, white supremacy, wanted to end democracy and destroy the United States. 620,000 Americans killed fellow Americans.

There was and is plenty wrong with all of that.

reply

True. That's why I don't care when I see someone criticizing someone else waving a confed flag. But there could be other reasons for someone to have the flag that don't pertain to race or slavery. So I live and let live.

reply

That flag is a symbol of hate and can't be separated from it. It's like separating the swastika from nazis. That can't be done.

Live and let live only when it doesn't hurt anyone. But, bigotry does plenty of harm.

reply

Bigotry does do harm, but does that mean we should call everyone a racist out in public if they have a confed flag sticker on their car? Or is it better to just ignore it? I prefer the latter.

reply

Ignore racism? Nah!

Problems don't get solved by ignoring them!

We can make them embarrassed to walk around with a symbol of hate and division by branding it as such.

This powerful ad came out last Spring.

reply

What if it's an avid collector of flags?

reply

We both know who we're talking about.

reply

Your postings are a symbol of pure hate! More then anything else. You are trying to destroy human lives and destroy your society. So the only problem here is you and your sick character. Get a life!

BTW Interesting that you post videos done by sexual harassers, loser!

"Six humans trapped by happenstance
In bleak and bitter cold.
Each one possessed a stick of wood
Or so the story’s told

Their dying fire in need of logs,
But the first man held his back.
For of the faces 'round the fire,
He noticed one was black.

The next man looking 'cross the way
Saw one not of his church.
And couldn't bring himself to give
the fire his stick of birch.

The third one sat in tattered clothes;
He gave his coat a hitch,
Why should his log be put to use?
To warm the idle rich?

The rich man just sat back
And thought of the wealth he had in store,
And how to keep what he had earned
From the lazy, shiftless poor.

And the black man's face bespoke revenge
As the fire passed from his sight.
For all he saw in his stick of wood
Was a chance to spite the white.

The last man of this fallen group did nought,
Except for gain.
Giving only to those who gave,
Was how he played the game.

Their logs held tight in death's still hands
Was proof of human sin.
They did not die from the cold without,
They died from the cold within."

Woody Allen marrying his adopted daughter.

Woody Allen didn't marry his "adopted daughter". She wasn't her adopted daughter, she was the adopted daughter of Mia Farrow and André Previn. Woody Allen barely knew her, since Allen and Farrow didn't live together and he almost never went to her house.

reply

Woody Allen marrying his adopted daughter. Still got work. Roman Pollanski was given an award after he fled the country on underage rape charges.

Woody Allen is indeed a perverted old freak who had an affair with and later married a girl who had once called him dad. He has gotten away with his proclivities including the ongoing accusation of child sex abuse by his other daughter because the thing is with the likes of Allen and Polanski is that that they're far more ensconced in the Hollyweird power structure & have generally kept a fairly low profile in terms of any public statements or social commentary unless they are doing a movie.

Someone like Carano doesn't have have anywhere near that much of a footing in Hollywood & unfortunately went out of her way to repeatedly draw controversy on social media when she surely must have been told behind the scenes to tone it down. It become an unwanted negative distraction. I'm the opposite of a Di$ney apologist but I can't really blame them that much with the Carano situation

reply

That's what I'm saying.

Unfortunately, she's become a victim of her own vices and now has been relegated to making movies that will only air on PlutoTV and Trinity Broadcast Network.

If she's lucky, Nic Cage might cast her in one of his Bible-pandering apocalypse movies.

reply

carano has real lines on camera, but i wouldnt call it acting
