He was great as Zuko!

I know people are hating on Airbender but I thought he was great. He had some big shoes to fill and I would never envy someone in that position but he really won me over.

He was one of the best actors on the cast. I didn't know anything about the cartoon... just went because I think Jackson Rathbone is a cutie. But Dev was AWESOME. He made the Prince a complicated and sympathetic character instead of just some baddie from the other kingdom.

M Night's script blew. He lost the heart of the series. I will agree, Dev was great because while Night didn't understand the Zuko character, Dev did (Night admits Dev's audition opened his eyes to the complexity of Zuko, so how much of a fan of the series could he truly have been?) Other than Zuko the characters were flat. I'm not a Twilight fan but have loved watching the cast interviews during the promo tour. Jackson Rathbone is hilarious and he's turned into a cardboard figure in terms of personality in the movie, while in the cartoon SOKKA AND ZUKO RULED! I felt bad for Rathbone. I didn't feel bad for Dev because he got to make the most of his time on screen and made Zuko his, not Nights. I hope they make a sequel and don't let MNight write or direct it. Heck, I'm an idiot and an aspiring writer and I could do a better job.

Zuko is my favorite character from the series, so I was very excited when Dev replaced Jesse McCartney in the film. It's obvious that Dev really knew the character and he really excelled as Zuko. Definitely the highlight of the film.

It was going to go to Jesse McCartney??? Oh my gosh, I am so glad it went to Dev. He was seriously one of the only good characters. He seriously owned that role. Almost everyone else was terrible, although that little boy playing aang was pretty good with all things considered. But Katara was just annoying, flat, and breathy! I still loved the movie, and the directing wasn't bad, but the writing left a lot to be desired. More research probably.

*Mercedes*~Don't be offended.

Perhaps Nicola Peltz went to the Emma Watson (Hermione Granger/Harry Potter movies) school of acting? Still, I think Nicola Peltz did better than Emma Watson who can't act at all.

The movie wasn't very good, I thought the acting itself wasn't the fault of the actors, the script was clearly the problem. However, I noticed two that clearly knew they didn't have much to work with and tried to give it there all. Shaun Toub was one of them, and Dev Patel was even more so! He was by far the best thing about the movie.

What movie did you see? I won't say he was bad, but the script was so pathetic it didn't matter what he did to make it good. Now if you want to see his acting ability never mind the overrated "Slumdog Millionaire" try watching him in "Skins." He did a great job in that show. No matter who took that role, it still blew, & he did the best he could w/what he was given...which was laughable. What happened to the M. Night of the "Signs?" Oh that's right it had Mel Gibson, & a good script.
