It has nothing to do with being "good" or "bad" looking. Some faces just pop out of the screen, and his does.
If he has the right voice (or is willing to develop the right voice), and a modicum of talent, he should do well.
Well, in Black Sails, his performance is certainly underwhelming.

I agree. He has "it". That thing that all actors wish for but few have. Watching old episodes of winners & losers, and even in a bit part he steals the scenes in which he appears.
