Has she really lived up to the hype

With her performance Inherent Vice got her such great acclaim, I loved the film but never thought her performance was that mind blowing that all this talk of award consideration was warranted. But she was seen as the next big thing to come along, but she's been in some very good films like Steve Jobs and Queen of Earth. But even in those films she wasn't the best thing in them.

Her most notable roles have come from blockbusters like Fantastic Beasts and Alien Covenant, once again she hasn't been the stand out performance in those. She was in Logan Lucky, but she was overshadowed in that and given little to do. Some of other choices when she was probably the lead in have gone by unnoticed (State Like Sheep with Michael Shannon is one).

I haven't been blown away by her performances. Am I been too harsh?

I think the word for her is underutilized. Like since Vice, she hasn't been used to her full potential. Most stuff I see her in now, she's either the love interest or the stiff or both.

She hasn't chosen her roles really well for me, even her indie fare isn't the greatest. She looks far uncomfortable in the bigger budget work. Is she a case of been a one hit wonder maybe, working with Paul Thomas Anderson always brings the best out of anyone no matter how good a actor they are. The closet she came to impressing me was in Queen of Earth, I thought she was very good in that but she was massively overshadowed by a stunning performance by Elisabeth Moss.

I don't think she's lived up to the hype of Inherent Vice performance, maybe she is underutilized but I just get the feeling she's not choosing the right roles for herself.

"...She looks far uncomfortable in the bigger budget work..."

Agreed. She looks so awkward in the first FB which I did like but her performance never seemed to hit the right note.

this.

After seeing the sitcom level antics in The Crimes of Grindelwald which took place against a backdrop of infanticide and human bondage, I hope she dies in the next one just to free herself.

She was greatly overhyped and is honestly not that hot. She is a very average actress.

I think all the talk of her performance in Inherent Vice by critic's, with them saying she was on for a Oscar and that she stole the film. I didn't think she was that great in it, Phoenix and Borlin stole the show. She was good but nothing out of this world.

I think the nearest thing she's come to pulling of a great performance was in Queen of Earth, but even then Elisabeth Moss stole that film. She looks lost in the bigger budget films. I think she works better as a supporting actress then a lead. Hopefully she go more down that route going forward.
