Margot Robbie has made her irrelevant

Looking at her IMDB profile she is hardly getting roles anymore while Margot Robbie has 10 upcoming films all the way to 2021.

She is then new IT hot blonde girl at the moment and she is both hotter and a better actress than Lawrence.

It has truly turned out that without X-Man and Hunger Games Lawrence just can't flourish as a top actress.

reply

Or perhaps she's made so much money off of those big franchise films that she can afford to pick her next roles more judiciously.

reply

Nice excuse. It is not like she has films with high profile directors lined up.

reply

You mean besides her upcoming film Bad Blood helmed by Oscar-winning director Adam McKay? How dare you suggest that Ms. Lawrence is focused on one high profile project before moving onto the next.

reply

Margot Robbie has taken off now Jennifer won't really be as popular as before. She is no longer the IT girl.

reply

i guess u have a point but idk if u can blame it all on Maggie Robbie

reply

True, others like Emma Stone and Brie Larson have eclipsed Lawrence as well but Margot fit more with the classic Hollywood blonde look that Lawrence used to fill as the IT girl of the moment. Margot has replaced her.

reply

Brie Larson is the new it girl and a better actress than Jlaw too. Jlaw was on top at such a young age she might be a little burned out these days.

reply

Larson won't last much given her attitude. Margot in the other hand seems set to have a very long career.

reply

I agree Margot will probably have a nice long career. Brie Larson might have an attitude but hasn’t been difficult to work with so she’ll be ok.

reply

I now love Margot even more! 😍😍😍

reply

She's amazing isn't she?

reply

Amazing to look at, yes!

reply

Only with help from a stylist. Google her mug shot photo....yikes!

It hasn't nothing to do with Margot Robbie to be fair. Besides her Franchise work, Hunger Games would have been a success even if she wasn't in it same for X-Men. None of the non Franchise work which she is front and center have been hits, pretty damning considering she was Harvey Weinstein's last pet project and the way she was pushed early into her career.

None of the film's she's been in have been awful, her work with David O. Russell is solid. I still stand by her Oscar win wasn't deserving but with Weinstein machine behind her and Hollywood loving to crown their IT Girls, she was always going to win. But her performance in Silver Lining Playbook is very good. I don't get why she got nommed for American Hustle, didn't think she was that great. Joy was the weakest of her O.Russell films.

Serena, had the potential to be great, a well respected Oscar winning European Director Susanne Bier, two stars who had great chemistry in Silver Lining Playbooks and at the height of their fame. But it seemed Bier had problems with the studio and the film had massive problems from the start. I think Lawrence was miscast in this. Passengers is probably her most successful non franchise film grossing over 300 million at the box office. It's got it's fans and also it's haters. Mother! got made cause she was the main star and it was a brave move to do for her. Again the film has it's fan's and haters. Red Sparrow was another film probably to dark and bleak and if she wasn't in it wouldn't have got a wider release. Another brave move for her that didn't pay off.

I think her best work is still Winter Bone, a performance she hasn't come close to topping. Maybe it's just me but she doesn't feel comfortable in the A Lister spot, I think she be far better suited in the indie or Oscar type films.

reply

She was very good in Joy.

reply

They're different types IMHO.

Lawrence is a better fit for the girl-next-door. I've never bought her in more glamorous roles. She's a great, and often underrated, actor (even despite the Oscar), but I've never understood her appeal as a 'sex symbol'.

Robbie is, to my mind, more of a classical beauty and sex symbol, but with a modern bad girl vibe. She's a good actor too, but apart from The Wolf of Wall Street and maybe Suicide Squad I don't feel she's distinguished herself to the same extent that Lawrence did with Winter's Bone, Silver Linings Playbook, and the Hunger Games series, where her personality really shone through.

I have nothing against JLaw and frankly, I haven't seen MR in anything yet. But JL just seems to be there. In Hunger Games (not my type of movie) she just seems to go through the motions. She's pleasant looking, and I guess she has to be impassioned to take her little sister's place, (what a weird plot device, little kid has to fight to the death) but it really doesn't grab me. I saw part of Joy, kind of a dumb idea for a movie. I have avoided SLP, sports movies and depression do that to me. Saw the X-Men stuff. The movies are fun but anyone could do that role. I kept hoping I'd see her actually naked, but it's pretty close. And she's sort of a butter face, reminds me of Zellwegger before she got plastic. But RZ had better roles, imo.

reply

actually Florence Pugh,Letitia Wright, Kaitlyn Dever and Daisy Ridley have

reply

Florence is great but the other three are no good.

reply

Pugh is excellent. I'm not sure I've seen any of the others you name in anything other than blockbuster fare so cannot really comment on their acting ability.

What happened to Jennifer Lawrence's career?

https://www.quora.com/What-happened-to-Jennifer-Lawrences-career/answer/Mitra-Pourmand

For a number of reasons:

Harvey Weinstein’s scandal; she kept working for this sexual predator and even had the gal to praise him in public. That didn’t go well with the public.

She was either in big budget super hero movies or was in one of Russles movies. Her mystique was frankly miserable and hunger games was basically a very stupid franchise. Which left her good movies to be one of Russels.

Her public persona is disrespectful. Yeah remember the whole sacred rock accident? People don’t like rude abrasive individuals they tend to shun them.

She is not a very good actress. I know that she’s won the academy awards but her acting is repetitive and becomes tiresome after a few movies I really didn’t like her in either Mother or Joy . And neither of those movies were well received by critics either , and her other projects were simply very very bad (Red sparrow and passengers) .

Other than in The Wolf of Wall Street I have yet to be particularly impressed by Robbie. Lawrence is not an actress I'm especially fond of, but she does have a reasonable amount of range. With regards to Margot, the jury is still out IMO.

There are any number of actresses of around the same age who have impressed me more than either.
