Jennifer Lawrence was placed in a nude line up and told to lose weight.

“When I was much younger and starting out, I was told by producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks,” she said, revealing another actress before her had already been fired for not losing the weight fast enough.
“During this time a female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much, thinner than me. We are stood side-by-side with only tape on covering our privates,” she added.
“After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet.”

So horrifying. Too bad I wasn't there at the time to reassure those ladies that they were each individually beautiful and that I would be happy to date them all.

All seriousness aside, this reminds me of a fetching young lady to whom I was once betrothed. She was up for the role that ended up going to Kate Beckinsale in Pearl Harbor, and Michael Bay said almost the exact same thing to her during the audition process: lose 15 pounds. Thankfully she went on to achieve a successful career in medicine, but it just goes to show how truly insensitive the industry as a whole can be.

Back to the topic. Where are these nude lineup photos?

reply

She could have walked away from that "nude line up"...so could all the other participants...so could the female producer.

They all could have played their part, and ended "nude line ups" forever, by just standing up for themselves once.

They chose not to.

Instead she chose to have no integrity whatsoever and only come out about it when she has hundreds of millions of dollars and everyone else is piling in about it.

It's so easy to make these snap judgments when you aren't in the position she and the other girls found themselves in, wanting to be actresses and thinking this is just how the business is run.

reply

Success in any field is often unlikely unless you're willing to compromise yourself in one way or another. Show me a person who hasn't done any compromising and I'll show you someone who hasn't been very prosperous.

reply

Why do you always have to be so darned reasonable, AngularTurnip?! ;P

reply

I'm confused why they fired an actress who wasn't the size they desired, then replaced her with another they felt must lose weight.

reply

This exactly. Her story doesn't add up. I've never heard any other actresses say anything similar to this happening to them. I just don't trust anything that comes from her. It's most likely exaggerated.

reply

Maybe they liked her face.

reply

I remember reading that story. She also said that once she became famous, any time someone tried something like that on her, she told them "no," and they weren't allowed to body-shame her anymore. Apparently if you're not famous in the biz, they can push you around and use your desperation for money and a part in film/tv like a leash.

reply

probably X-Men

reply

No surprise, she has a high level of body fat.

reply

and male actors are told to gain more muscle mass...... much harder than to lose a little bit of weight

but you only hear about all these bitch actresses complaining

How dare such an actress ever have an inconvenient moment, especially when they are being offered something that to achieve money and fame. Such problems! But, if she was told her body was perfect, she would have to think of another excuse to say she was degraded. Not the producer's fault that she was too heavy

reply

Seriously. Imagine going somewhere, completely voluntary like you didn't even have to go, and being told you need to conform to their standards not the other way around...THE NERVE!

15 pounds in two weeks?! That's a very dangerous way to lose weight! It's no wonder some actors in Hollywood get sick! Losing that much weight in such a small amount of time causes your body to think it's in a famine, and you get ill very fast.

In the real world, a safe way to lose weight is to lose 1-2 lbs. per week, so that your body can adapt. This losing 7.5 lbs. per week thing is too much.
