Google Trends: Jennifer Lawrence going down, Emma Stone going up

Quite interesting that just as Lawrence's popularity seems to be declining, Emma's popularity is going up. Over the last year Emma had remained below Lawrence but look at the graph and see how she has now matched and even passed Lawrence...

If the trend continues over the next couple of months you could see Emma moving up even more. What is leading to Lawrence's decline in popularity? Is it her being outspoken about her political views that has driven fans away? Has Emma stone handled things better in the public?

What is leading to Lawrence's decline in popularity? The lack of a hit film for one. She also has not been nominated this year, and Jennifer's popularity seems to spike when she's part of awards shows.

Although her stint at the Golden Globes seemed to cause a sharp decline last year, when she lashed out at the reporter.

She's been on the decline ever since.

This makes no sense she is doing fine.

My own read on that trend is that both of them are upsurging in long-term popularity. They both had a huge surge in the past two months and presently both of them are returning to more normal levels. The OP is engaging in "alternative facts" and "fake news".

Passengers has a $94M box office Domestic return on a $100M budget, that's not fine. X-Men: Apocalypse had a $155M box office Domestic return on a $178M budget, that's definitely not fine!

By comparison, X-Men: Days of Future Past had a $233M box office Domestic return on a $200M budget and Hunger Games ~ Catching Fire had a $424M box office Domestic return on a $130M budget.

Keep in mind that Emma Stone's movie La La Land is generating a lot of Oscar buzz right now. Stone is likely to be nominated for Best Actress and, although it's a tight race this year, she has a feasible chance to win. She's getting a lot of press right now, which is no doubt adding to her popularity.

I'm sure that when/if Jennifer Lawrence has another successful movie in theaters, her popularity on Google will improve again. Or really the next time that she says something in an interview or at an award show that gets media (and viewer) attention.

I'm sure that when/if Jennifer Lawrence has another successful movie in theatersThat might be a long time, considering that most of "her" successful movies were part of franchises, book series' or ensemble casts and she doesn't seem to want to do those anymore.

Just because Jennifer isn't at the tippy top of google trends doesn't mean that her movie career is somehow finished or that nobody likes her anymore. I mean, I'm on the "Jlaw is kinda overrated" boat myself, but I'm not stupid enough to believe that.

But yes, I do agree.
