......Passengers sh!ts all over la la land imo
And it didn't deserve either of the nominations it received, especially when taking the Production Design of "The Handmaiden" or "Jackie" and the score of "Nocturnal Animals" into consideration.
"Passengers" was Morten Tyldum verifying his position as a Hollywood one-hit wonder with "The Imitation Game" and taking what could have been a great sci-fi premise and making it into a substandard one. The idea that people thought Jennifer Lawrence or Chris Pratt were going to be nominated for this was "admirable, but mistaken", especially when taking Isabelle Huppert, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Ruth Negga or the unrecognized works by Amy Adams and Annette Bening into account (with Lawrence) or Casey Affleck, Denzel Washington, Andrew Garfield, Tom Hanks, Joel Edgerton or even Ethan Hawke when he played Chet Baker earlier in the year.
But I digress.
There's a difference between a differing opinion and a forced one.
And it didn't deserve either of the nominations it received, especially when taking the Production Design of "The Handmaiden" or "Jackie" and the score of "Nocturnal Animals" into consideration. Have to agree, seems rather odd that the movie was nominated at all.
