Why do you people love her so much all of a sudden?

I've liked her since the first day she was announced as a cast member in TYAS, two years ago. (I'm a Michael Fassbender fan and was keeping a long thread on his board following the filming of the movie). I looked her up at Yale, saw her student picture and could not look away from that beautiful and arresting face. Then I read her bio including that she had directed a film on Albinism for her degree in Film as a senior in College, and was now at Yale getting a Masters in acting. That did it. Was impressed and started rooting for her success in the film. So yeah some of us knew about her before the mainstream media caught on.

But I admit I became an even bigger fan once I finally saw TYAS. Wow. She was so good, and her accent was awesome. Then she started doing interviews to promote TYAS. I loved the way she spoke, her understanding of Patsey's horror, the way she carried herself with grace, her multiple languages knowledge, and her ability to laugh at herself as well as tell really good jokes. She's a gem on her own without the media hype.

Same here. I knew about the Albinism doc. Her approach to shooting documentaries is refreshing and nonintrusive. When I found out that she is the same woman set to play Patsy, I knew she would add respect and dignity to the character. All of her interviews have me spellbound. Lastly, she is so beautiful.

I find it funny that some people need to question why others find her fascinating. If they don't, fine.

Honestly don't know why you'd care. Folks like who they like. Imo she's a rarity in Hollywood as a dark-skinned African woman whose talent, grace, intelligence, perseverance and luck madeher an Oscar winner and beloved actress. A true natural beauty among plastic. She's a breath of fresh air!

Frankly, I didn't know about her until '12 Years A Slave.' I'm uncool and out of the loop. Maybe because I'm pushing 30, LOL. Shows you how much the media controls me!

Something about her acting... There's an effortless authenticity that seems to come from her as a person. She makes you believe you "know" a character, and never fails to be interesting no matter how mundane the scene. She doesn't play a role, she brings someone to life.

She's stunning, an absolute beauty. Again, effortlessly so. It's refreshing!

I didn't know about her until 12YAS either. But she was really great in it and she's such a class act, and of course her impeccable style made her even more noticeable.

I don't know if I'm a "fan" having seen a total of 1 performance but I definitely like her, and I'm very interested in seeing where her career is headed.

I'll check in as another Fassbender fan who started following her in the summer of 2012!

I found her doc interview on YT because I was interested in Albinos being kidnapped and mutilated for some damn potion. I clicked on her video. I thought she was interesting and I noticed the beauty.
