The Guest + It Follows

She must have a great agent.

The noughties were last decade, this decade has yet to be given a proper name.

Agent and actress in this case. It Follows could've been "not another teen horror movie", or considered "try-hard," but it turned out, as you said, into a (future) classic. I haven't seen The Guest, but I'm guessing the same. I'd give more credit to non-dramas -- thrillers, mysteries, comedies and romances, actions as "risks" since they aren't seen as as serious projects or garner the actors in them "respect" like dramas do. If you have a couple of strong acclaim in dramas that are seen by much of the critics then your career takes on new heights; if you're in a "best horror in years" pic your career is give a boost, but not the type of boost that a drama gives.

In a five years from now it would be interesting where she's is in terms of directors she has worked with. Having a horror/thriller pic as your "breakout" is rather unique.

2015: Slow West, Lost River, Faults
