She definitely has what it takes, but she prefers working on non-Hollywood films and is not a famewhore, while the Oscars have become little more than a money-fueled popularity contest.

You four-eyed psycho.

I don't know what is it about Mia, she picks excellent projects, I have seen her do different accents, but sometimes I find her so...forced onscreen. Anyway, I think because of the quality of her work, she will get an Oscar nom one day.

There is nothing wrong with doing bigger Hollywood films ! Great actresses in my opinion can do it all.

I am always confused when people say this. Besides Avatar and Titanic, it's very rare that the box-office juggernauts are even nominated, let alone win any of the major awards. Most Oscar films are generally smaller films that are generally character driven. That and award season films are judged on EVERYTHING from direction, performances, and technical factors.

With that being said, Mia definitely has what it takes to be nominated. She is an actor's actor, and so far has delivered immensely in everything I've seen her in.

I'm always dragging that horse around...

Because many a actor fans don't know what they're talking about and they are only familiar with the "Hollywood vs indie" narrative and what their favorite actor is acting in - never actual observing the trends and patterns of the industry. In other words, they're low info types.

Well, talent is important, but it's definitely not everything. I think the performances that typically get Oscar nominated these days are often linked to certain causes - ones that the academy wants to be identified with, whether it be anti-racism, gay rights, overcoming a disease or some crippled condition (schizophrenia, alzheimers, etc.) you get the idea (it's a cliche, but often true) - films that have some noble cause, it's not about being a blockbuster, although you'll sometimes see those, too, but they seem less cause-linked - like "Gone Girl", "Gravity", "Argo" (Hollywood shown in a positive light). I think that when Mia is in a vehicle that fits more comfortably within the so-called Oscar-bait parameters, and, importantly, receives the kind of promotion that's required, you'll see an Oscar nomination, but JESUS, she just turned 25, WHAT'S THE RUSH? Personally, I prefer the kinds of films she's been making, with directors I find more interesting, but you don't often see poetic or surreal films appealing to the academy - I think they appeal to her, she's not really coming out of the Hollywood model, her parents are fine art photographers and she seems to be more in line with that. Mia's already done an amazing variety of wonderful performances, but she seems to be mostly following her taste, which isn't particularly mainstream. All I want is for her to just keep making creative films, if awards follow, fine.

What makes you "the expert" at acting and oscars?
