Tom Hiddelston on Mia and the truth

Here's what Tom Hiddelston says about working with Mia, from "Crimson Peak - Art of Darkness".

"Edith is intensely good and pure-hearted and innocent, and Mia has those qualities", extols Tom Hiddelston, who also starred with her in "Only Lovers Left Alive". "She is so intelligent and honest and has a very pure spirit. She can be very quiet but she sees everything. Everything she does is authentic. Someone once said that the camera captures the truth, but it also captures falsity. I've never seen Mia do anything that doesn't ring true."

I would add that besides capturing "the truth", Mia is able to take on totally different forms with her characters and be completely authentic while doing it - Jane Eyre, India Stoker, Ava, Sophie, etc.

"They [drama school] can't train you in the truth, and ... Mia's genuinely one of the most natural actresses I've ever worked with. Guillermo and I would joke that she's incapable of not telling the truth."

--Tom Hiddleston on Charlie Rose. Yes, Mia was FINALLY on Charlie Rose, though he (unsurprisingly) mispronounced her name and called the movie "Crimson Park" at one point.

It was great to see the three of them give in-depth answers, they're all so talented and bright. Tom Hiddelston really is a super guy; I've read numerous comments of his re Mia that show his depth of appreciation, some of them sound like things that I would say, except they carry much more weight from someone like him. There was a tremendous amount of talent on that panel. Admittedly, "Wasikowska" is not the easiest name to pronounce, but once you learn it, it flows beautifully, "Vash-e-kov-ska", and sounds lyrical and romantic.

After reading this thread, I think I now truly know why people think Mia is dull or lifeless onscreen: realism (especially in entertainment) is boring. I'll leave it at that.

On an unrelated note, I saw a snippet of a video from MTV with Tom and Jessica that looks absolutely idiotic (it's on Facebook), and I'm guessing was shot before the movie's release. Thank goodness Mia didn't take part in that.

Only some people, and those people like to spit their poison on Imdb, I see it all over on different threads - some of the things I've read directed at actresses, especially, are pretty dreadful, they're sickening. I've not really been following these threads that much as of late - the overall intelligence of the comments just seem to be dropping. Maybe its a reflection of our society, a lot of nastiness, especially toward females. The MTV video is promotion, Tom and Jessica goofing around - it was silly, but I think that was the point. No, I couldn't imagine Mia doing that, she saves her performing for the screen - as a wise old cokehead once said, "Different strokes for different folks".
