Potential A-Lister

Been following him since The Reluctant Fundamentalist and he has come a long way. This guy clearly has the talent and that 'omph' to make it big. Thoughts?

If anyone has the potential to be an A-list star, it's him. I was absolutely amazed by his performance in The Night of. I am so glad that he has a larger fanbase because of it.

Yep, he's one of the very few actors that can work in both TV and Movies. That's the key I think that'll pave the way for his super stardom.

What do you mean with "that "omph""?

reply

I don't know, way too much bs islamophobia right now for him to make it big

@sofianXmXh
omph as in that extra something/spark.

@halomaniac88
He's a funny likable guy, just saw his interview on Stephen Colbert. Like I said there are very few actors that are good on TV and in movies so I think for now he's on his way to be an A-lister.

I think his performance in "The Night Of" was really outstanding. There is no way in hell Hollywood didn't take notice. The question is: will they have the balls to cast him in roles other than their stereotypical muslim characters? Or a Bond villain? He may never become an A lister in a traditional sense but he's a fine actor so I hope we'll be seeing a lot of him in the future.

I don't think so.

It seems Riz actually cares about the types of roles he accepts, I, for one, could care less if he plays a Bond villain and exactly how would that go? Would he be typecast? Hmm, you can figure 'who' the character would be, so, no. He needs to continue the types of diversified roles he's been playing.

Riz was heartbreaking and nuanced as Naz. Keeping up the Queens NY accent for eight months, even off the set, shows this actor is totally committed to his craft. Riz comes across as a chameleon on the screen, an actor who has already played everything from working class drug dealers to romantic leads as well as comedic roles.

The HBO series brought a little known UK actor...in the US he wasn't very well known,...to the attention of many viewers. Not to mention, the series wasn't about hype, most of the performers were known for their acting, not their star quality, people such as JOhn Turturro and Bill Camp are excellent actors.

As Naz in "TNO", Riz performance was excellent, he was mesmerizing, he made viewers care about Naz., Riz totally lived up to his many critical reviews. The writing in "TNO" wasn't always perfect...though, Riz performance was. TNO was a case of the acting transcending the writing.

I've seen most of his UK films and TV series, many viewers recently discovered Riz through "TNO". Stephen Colbert mentioned he didn't even know Riz was British! Not sure if Colbert was joking....he has very dry sense of humor...perhaps, as Riz mentioned, Stephen needs to read up on his guests before interviewing them 

Over the next few months, Riz has three films coming out, films which will likely garner him yet more fans. In these films, he will be doing yet other different accents/dialects, something he seems to be a master of. He will also be directing a TV series in the UK.

I predict we'll be seeing a lot more of this amazingly talented British actor. If only for that aspect alone.... bringing Riz to the attention of a much broader audience..."The Night Of" has done it's job remarkably well.

Hopefully, "The Night Of" brought Riz to an audience which cares more about talent and ability, over discovering the 'next big movie star' or 'A-lister', Due to social media etc, we unfortunately live in world of constant hype and the pushing of 'product', Riz talent will transcend all the hype.

The world now has a very talented, as well as an intelligent and attractive new actor to follow, one who can actually act. We are bombarded with tons of pretty people who cannot actually act, Riz is a very refreshing change. He seems personable and funny too. Hopefully, all this current attention won't go to his head. Riz also has a rap career, which seems to comfortably co-exist with his acting. He seems 'real', let's hope he stays that way.

We already have way too many plastic 'movie stars', who, year and year, continue to crap out tedious and empty movies.

Personally, I prefer actors and actresses who know their craft and create characters which move me....performers who make me feel something. Hopefully, Riz will stay true to his roots and continue to make diverse and thought provoking films and TV series.

I'm looking foward to "City of Tiny Lights" and "Una".
