Just saw Silence

I haven't paid much attention to Andrew Garfield's work since The Social Network (though to be fair he hasn't made a lot of films in that span of time) and while I thought he was excellent in that film, I questioned whether he could handle the weight of a complex, weighty, and emotionally raining role in a Martin Scorsese film.

Well any doubt I had was squashed! What a magnificent actor. Should he be nominated for an oscar for Hacksaw Ridge, he surely deserves it (gotta actually see it first, but after Silence I'm no skeptic)but it's a pity Silence has had so little press until the middle of award season and even less in terms of advertisement. His performance is worth a best actor win for sure!

I'm from the UK and I was a big fan of Garfield's early roles in Boy A and Red Riding. I hadn't seen him in anything since The Social Network either. But his performance in Silence (and the film itself) was so breathtaking. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing him in Hacksaw Ridge, out in two weeks here. It feels like Garfield is finally blossoming after all his early potential. Thank GOD he's out of the Spiderman franchise!

Watch 99 Homes. He's great in that too.

Yes! He was excellent in 99 homes. Movie doesn't get enough hype.
