Why do people hate him so much?

I'm not quite sure I understand the mass amount of hatred that is directed towards him on these boards. I understand that he is not exactly the most well known or respected actor in Hollywood. People in America really only know him from Spider-Man. It was his own fault he was fired apparently, but I'm still not quite sure why people have such hatred for the guy himself. By all accounts he seems like a decent enough guy. I guess sometimes he can be over-honest in interviews such as the whole gay Spider-Man fiasco (which by the way, was only a half joke, mentioning how Spider-Man is universal). He must be upset by what's happened, but I don't know how hating him really changes much for people.

Ignorance to how a movie is created.

They blame him for the bad Spider-Man movies, when it is really the writers and directors to blame for bad movies.

An actor is just an instrument, it takes the right director and solid writers to make them play well

He didn't seem to know how he wanted to play the character, but then again he didn't have much compelling material to work with for both of his films. Neither movie feels consistent with the other in terms of tone either.

Because they are babies, seriously. He was great as spiderman. The chemistry with Emma was great too. They just start calling him names and throwing insults at him.

Ignore the morons.
Most people who actually know and care about acting, film-making and show-business (and thus, the ones who would actually hire him) know that he's a huge talent.

He's one of the best actors in Hollywood right now and I'm glad he got rid of Sony's bullcrap. More chance to see him in fantastic stuff like The Social Network or The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

He's extremely arrogant.

Excellent actor, but God, he is arrogant, like so many Brit actors sadly. Most of 'em went to university so that explains it !

That's wierd. I saw itereviews with him.. And he always seemed so sweet and modest. I don't know about the latest ones. Mabe people missintepitate him. He is very inteligent. Mabe it looks arogant to some.
