She's Great, Unfortunately...
I think she's a very good actress. She truly "wow'd" me in For Colored Girls. In honesty, the movie wasn't jaw-dropping, because it had that Tyler Perry generic feel to it. It was too colorful, spite the title, because it dealt with dark and horrifying issues, so I think it should have had darker photography and more intimate/up close and personal shots. But whatever, thats technical talk. Tessa proved her acting ability to me, and it was actually the first time I saw her I think, and she proved herself because she came off as a girl I would know, her attitude and the way she dressed and carried herself. I just felt like we knew each other (surprise, I'm a black female!) Her personality just seemed so familiar for me. That was a good role for her, so on to the "unfortunately" part...
Unfortunately I think her playing young roles will wither because she'll be 30 before you know it, then 35, then she'll be unbelievable as a twenty year old or younger. I don't expect her to play 'young' forever, I don't wish it on her either, type-casted actors must hate their jobs, but I think what she's good at she won't be able to play. And what if that deprived her of an award winning role? Maybe? I don't know. I just watched Mississippi Damned, and again she did a great job and played young, but what if roles like that is all she gets? She's too sweet-faced and soft spoken to be taken seriously as a bad girl/priss. But I admit, I can see her fulfilling an important role on Law & Order: SVU or something. BEST SHOW EVER. Anyway!!!
What do you guys think?
