Did Elon buy Twitter to destroy it for the GOP/Putocrats

Exodus continues at Twitter as Elon Musk hints at possible bankruptcy
Departures of top figures handling safety, security, privacy and compliance come amid warnings from Federal Trade Commission

reply

But this has all got to be part of his grand design, right? I can't believe someone like Musk didn't anticipate the possibility, or even likelihood, of this.

reply

What do you think his grand design is?
Musk pushes the appearance of shooting from the hip, but he is also very strategic in this thinking and actions too. Not always right, but always angling.

reply

Yes, I can't believe that he was blindsided by this, that he he didn't foresee it. He and the people working for him thrash out the implications of every business decision they make, benefits vs costs (short-term and long-term). Whatever his motivation, I can only think this has all been deliberate - or at least considered an acceptable risk.

reply

Good riddance. It's a giant waste of time.

reply

Twitter has allowed a lot of subjects and opinions to be heard that probably would not have surfaces without it. I'm on it, but I don't Tweet myself, I just listen. The country needs something like this, but what spoils it is the plutocratic aspect and ownership/control by billionaires.

reply

Twitter was a communist libturd circle jerk cesspool that offered nothing but a big brother censorship propaganda machine to the public. Elon did the public some good charity at his own financial expense by purchasing this shit company and purging it of the commies

reply

The funniest thing in the world is Americans being scared shitless of something they know nothing about, like socialism and communism. People shouting against Obamacare while saying they are insured by the ACA because it's much better. Definitely the biggest clowns of them all.

reply

shutup libturd not all McMuricans are retards! my parents immigrated from communist shithole countries penniless and I will not forget where I came from! USA is number one! Our freedoms and God given Second Amendments Rights are the only thing keeping this country from being corrupting into a commie shithole

reply

Yeah, just keep buying the biggest guns while living penniless in a trailer park without any medical insurance...

reply

i a millionaire and dont have insurance because that shit is for chumps

reply

You just proved yourself that you are an idiot.

reply

i invest in time off of work for healthy activities and healthy food not wasting my hard earned fortune supporting big pharma mafia like a fat McLoser

reply

I think it's a possibility, maybe some eeeevil plutocrat gave him the money, just to stop the twitter mobs and the sort of free speech that's inconvenient to plutocrats.

So, who's getting Whatsapp?

reply

Twitter despite its being the focus of plutocrats has the potential for taking them down globally in seconds. If someone had a "Twitter" and tuned it to work like that, it would be pretty amazing, the most democratizing force since violent revolutions began.

reply

We can only hope this is true, but $$ always has the upper hand.

reply

Twitter is around for a while

reply

But it would be very easy for Twitter to slide into a death spiral as advertisers leave because they do not want to be associated with the something like 10-fold increase in hate and racist Tweets, and famous people take off or just hold off to see what is going to end up happening. That could quickly slide into bankruptcy, which Musk has even floated.

reply

Yeah but being the richest man in the world 🌎 has its perks

reply

Anyone can make bad investments.

reply

He bought it on a whim hoping to expand it into a wechat-like company, quickly realized it was a bad idea and tried to get out of the deal. He's in over his head.

reply

Perhaps this is for the best.

These social media platforms often bring out the worst in people. Who needs to know if some celebrity is out having dinner or scratching his rear end? I don't need to see pictures of someone's kids.

reply

The worst in people in social media usually comes from the worst people.
That is why it makes sense to have some kind of norms with which to ban people.
Like banning and then unbanning Trump makes no sense, he is a super-criminal.

Your rear-end scratching comment is vapid and implies that all of Twitter is used
for frivolous purposes, and any idiot could know that is not true given the Arab
Spring and liberation movements in other countries. You posting is what is
trivial,

reply

I was trying to be sarcastic with the rear end scratching comment and I was strictly referring to many of the posts by some celebrities.

I believe my comment is quite valid, not trivial or vapid as you have mentioned. I mentioned that social platforms (Twitter, Facebook, etc) often (not 100% of the time - as you interpreted) bring out the worst in even good people, not just the jerks. Even the most decent people can get caught up in this. Many people have commented that these social media platforms have created and increased the divisiveness in the US. While there are some good uses to these platforms, as you mentioned, there is a lot of bad uses as well.

I agree with your comment about Trump.

reply

he's running game to find other self starting, high result people like himself, that he can throw money behind to run more divisions of other things he can't oversee himself.

how else would you do that? run an AD??? :D
No, you got to set the high stakes and some high achievers will prove themselves over the slothful normals that reside everywhere.

Well played, Elon, well played.

To the victor, go the spoils. Who WILL step up?

reply

Let's hope we are among the people who have a place in the world then, eh?

reply

general populous keeps economy functional, we are needed. but he's looking for other functional sharks to use to branch out. imagine being up to the task. imagine working 18 hours a day, doing above and beyond creations, having Elon notice you and make you the head of SpaceX or something for 20 million a year. Kinda worth it

reply

Sorry, I work in Silicon Valley, where I and many others have worked 18 hour days. I've been woken up in my office when people get to work in the morning. What you are talking about is a scam, and about 2/3 of it is political. I've seen the best people getting fired, and the worst people covering for each other ... often. Your version of the world doesn't work, and that is what the world is finding out.

reply

Self starting billionaires whose parents own a diamond mine?

reply

The GOP didn't hand back a convicted arms dealer to Putin. Pretty sure that means the Democrats are the ones in Putin's pocket.

reply

The Repubilkkkans have been in Putins pocket and rigged the 2016 for his Traitorus Oligarch Donald Trump

reply

If that was true, then Trump would have stopped weapons shipments to Ukraine which pushed Russia and Ukraine closer to war.

reply

"If that was true"

it is true

reply

Again, if it was true...

More to the point, If you are so sure it is, why aren't you able to prove it here now?

reply

i did prove it

reply

No you didn't. You just said "The Repubilkkkans have been in Putins pocket and rigged the 2016 for his Traitorus Oligarch Donald Trump"

That is the polar opposite of proving it, that is saying something without proof.

reply

Are you an election result denier... I thought that was enough to get booted off website comment boards.

Oh, you're a leftist, that's OK then, what with the double standard applied by the media industrial complex.
