Nadia

Why in the world, did the writers kill her off? She was well on her way, to loosing her past.

yeah,i don't normally get disturbed by tv shows but the horrible death of such a sweet and kind character as NADIA chilled me to the very core. i mean i am an ex-marine who saw extensive action over seas in my youth, but the senseless slaughter of NADIA was just so pointless. they could have just as well killed off the crazy desk sergeant character instead. but i imagine her death wouldn't have rocked the squad any where near as much.

that was a messed up way leave. raped and murdered off a tv show

Thankyou! What on earth could she have done for Dick Wolf to warrant having her brutalised this way? It seems gratuitous to me and the sad thing is.. she became just another victim in svu. I'll wait and see how it's handled on PD next week but having it all wrapped up in one leads me to believe they want to tie it up in a bow and leave it done ?

reply

Agree. Seemed pointless, and unsatisfying the way justice barely seemed to be handed out to her killer. Like it was a ploy to boost SVU which seems less interesting by the week.

the details were overly graphic and not necessary

There isn't much that could save Law and Order SVU at this point. Since Stabler left the show has gone downhill to the point it is becoming more soap opera than drama show, and I say this as a fan from the beginning of L&O SVU. All they focus on anymore is so much of the personal lives of the characters the cases tend to get lost in the shuffle. I always tuned into the L&O franchise shows for the quality drama story lines they always delivered and SVU just isn't cutting it anymore.

I don't care much for the crossover shows they have been doing with Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and L&O SVU anyway and this one really made me angry. Was it really necessary to kill off a long running, well-loved character as footnote in an SVU case?

I see Stella Maeve does have quite a few new projects in the works though, but it still won't make me happy to see her go from Chicago PD. Nadia was one of my characters on the show and from the way her storyline had been progressing I fully expected her to become a police officer and become more fully integratd into the squad -- not just killed off for shock factor.

Nadia's death was extremely sad; maybe the actress wanted to leave. That's what happened to Leslie Shay on Chicago Fire; Lauren German had other plans. I don't like when some characters leave shows I like, but it's part of the package.

I still enjoy SVU, which has included some fine work with college rapes and rape culture issues. I know others don't feel the same way. Cops aren't robots; they have personal lives. I don't find any resemblance to soap operas with this show.

I managed to miss the episode where Nadia was killed. I didn't really want to watch what happened to her so I kept putting it and eventually it dropped off the schedule. I'm glad I did - sometimes you just don't want to see horrible things happen to characters/actors you like.
To be honest I don't want to see anything graphically horrible happen to just about any character though there a few politicians and business tycoons I'd be willing to make an exception for.
