Gregg Rolie vs Jonathan Cain
Journey's two keyboardists: which era do you prefer?
The band made their name and wrote some of their most definitive songs with Gregg Rolie (1975-80), but my preference is for Jonathan Cain (1981-present).
It's an interesting question because I like both eras. Rolie had the organic 70s sound that typified that era and Cain brought in the emerging synthesizers to enhance their 80s output. Looking back I find myself listening to their 70s output more often.
