Child stars who are teased about their weight

Just saw the Goldbergs episode last night with Allie and she looked sick. NOT trying to be a concern troll but she looks like she's in the throes of an eating disorder. It made me think about how on Weeds her very normal babyfat as a preteen was made a plot point on the show, with the Huskaroos ad and her TV mom Celia bringing up her weight all time. I remembered Tracy Gold saying that similar story lines about her weight on Growing Pains made her very selfconscious about her weight and contributed to her eating disorder.
I think if people are going to cast young girls in shows and/or movies there has to be some kind of reasonable limit about how their bodies and appearances are discussed. Ultimately these girls have to continue to live in those bodies after the role is over, and constantly making them feel devalued and ugly when their self images are still being formed seems pretty messed up.
