Is she straight edge?

I heard she's pretty anti-drinking. Is she also anti-drugs/straight edge or is it just an alcohol thing? Does anybody know more about her stances on that?

reply

I think she does no drugs or alcohol, but I don't think she's anti-alcohol, she just doesn't touch a drop of it herself. So, I doubt she's judging on other people for doing pot, she just chooses not to. She worked on a Judd Apatow show for crying out loud.

reply

I also heard she doesn't drink at all.

reply

It's probably just her natural dislike for alcohol. Plenty of people who have tried alcohol never got the fun buzz or numbing from pain that makes it so addictive to a majority of us, and instead get slightly sick and nauseous from just a sip.

I'm the same way with cigarettes. I tried to smoke as a teenager but I just never got the nicotine high or relief that makes it so addictive to those who can't quit it. Same with marijuana.

That basically sums me up. Never understood the appeal of alcohol or being drunk, as it's just a horrible feeling followed by a shitty hangover day. To each is own though.

reply

good on her if she is.

Wiki says she's a teetotaler. Yeah, in this day and age you've gotta respect somebody with the restraint not to run around nuking their brain cells. (I'm not saying teetotaler is "the way to go" or that people shouldn't do what they want, of course). The only thing that would suck would be if she was sanctimonious about it, but somehow I don't think so. I doubt she would have survived Community working with Dan Harmon and the rest of them. Or Love, come to that. She certainly wouldn't have been asked to do a guest spot on Rick & Morty if she had stormed around Community's set yelling at people for lifestyle habits.

reply

I dont think a teetotaller is a straight edge.

reply

I assumed a teetotaler would have stayed away from drugs, too. Maybe that's incorrect.

reply

Yea but i think straight edgers might be also vegan and sht. She might smoke too.

reply

Okay, cool. I have no idea of detailed specifics of her diet and habits.

reply

She’s not famous enough for anyone not to care.

By the way, I’ve never heard the term teetotaller before but just saw it on it also on badoo. Apparently it is a common term.

reply

It's common, yeah. It usually refers to alcohol, but I assumed that somebody with that stance on liquid drugs might feel the same about the other varieties. Started during the temperance movement, I believe.

reply

Yea but I know many people usually women who dont drink alcohol or little but not know or care about anything else. Probably cause of it’s stigma and bad taste.

reply

Considering how straight-laced she is, it's ironic how many movies she's done that glorify alcohol and hard drugs. Not that I'm judging, I just think it's interesting.

reply

It's called "acting".

reply

That joke was actually made by Gillian herself btw: https://youtu.be/9Kqz0_zdYsU?t=78

reply

The Fear Street movies are also sort of pro-drug. More weird irony.
