It would be fun to have Peter Capaldi regenerate as Matt Smith when the time comes. They've never done a past Doctor as the new Doctor before.

Smith was amazing in the role, quite possibly the best ever (and I say that as a huge fan of Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee). However we have to accept that Smith isn't coming back, he's moved on to bigger and better things and no doubt has a very bright future.

Peter Capaldi is far better than Matt Smith. He wasn't bad but isn't as good as the original 4 and Capaldi. He was better than Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant though.

I'm late to the discussion. I watched only half of the Doctor Who series with Matt Smith. I absolutely love him as the doctor. Matt was one fine and hot specimen of a doctor. Sucks that he left.

Capaldi only has two acting styles grumpy and confused. Mat Smith was a far better Doctor and had the range of acting to draw you in. All they have done lately is focus on Clara because Capaldi sucks.

Yes, no doubt he has a very bright future and.... I still want him back. I think it would be brilliant if, after Peter Capaldi plays out, Matt Smith could return and finish the story off properly. Now that we know he can choose his face, there's no reason The Doctor can't choose that of Matt Smith! He wasn't given a very good last season. I would love to see Matt given the opportunity to play some of the meatier bits and then cap it all off with a return to the playful, lovely, loving, compassionate Doctor Who I love.

Thats exactly how I feel, I think the doctor should be so much more. Matt was everything, and when he got angry, you really felt like hiding. With Capaldi you just know he is gonna get the mood down some how.
