I'm a fan of Jonah Hill but, in a way, I can get why people hate him

Okay, this is gonna be long but here goes...

I love pretty much all of Jonah Hill's movies that I've seen. SuperBad and 21 Jump Street are hilarious and I don't understand how people can hate them, but to each their own(I'm not gonna just insult people and say their jealous or something just because they don't like the same movies/actors as me). I love his signature deadpan/raunchy humour and he has good comic timing. Plus I think that he deserved to be nominated for the Oscar for Wallstreet because it was pretty good but really long and he(and Leo) made it funny and smart, when it could have been so boring.

Here's why I can understand why people may hate him. Well, when I saw some of his interviews on Conan and Jimmy Kimmel etc. and I thought "wow, this guys is pretty funny and has hilarious anecdotes, he seems awesome to hang out with". When I saw "This is the End" where all the actors played versions of themselves and he played on the public's perception of him being Hollywood's nice guy, and I thought it was hilarious and I respected him for being self-deprecating and not taking himself too seriously etc. But shortly thereafter, I read some Rolling Stone's interview with Jonah and the cast of TITE, and he was whistling a different tune. He was not self-deprecating he was self-important. When the interviewer asked him about farts and j*****g off or something he said something along the lines of "I'm a serious actor, I won't answer those questions". What I've also noticed after hearing him on Howard Stern interviews is that he loves and I mean loves to kiss butt. Every second it's like "Howard you are such an inspiration" "Howard I have so much respect for you" and even though a lot of the interview was entertaining but that made him come across as such a phony. Also, he name-drops like it's nobody's business e.g. Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Leo, Mr.Scorcesse(his "hero") and it's quite obnoxious.

A lot of people say that nepotism is the only reason he got famous, which I don't agree with. Firstly, his mum was a costume designer and his dad was a tour manager for Guns N' Roses so he wasn't exactly born in to a family of actors. Secondly, you can't help the location/family you are born in to. Yes he was friends with Dustin Hoffman's kids so that did get him contacts but Hollywood business (and pretty much all jobs ever) are about who you know as much as what you know. To be honest, if I were born in LA and knew some famous people, I would take advantage of the opportunity. Why wouldn't you? Finally, it's not like he didn't work hard for his success. He started off doing minor roles and cameos until he struck a friendship with Appatow and then blew up from there. Also, Hollywood is a shallow place and for an actor who is not stereo-typically handsome (sorry) to have achieved this much success, is pretty impressive.

People ?hate? what they do not understand. Hate is just another emotion that stems from fear and distrust. All it takes is a little bit of education to help make people more aware and less ?hateful.?

I don't hate him. He's one of my fav comedians but he's hard to watch when he plays such serious roles. It's a shame he's such a douche in real life. Hell I feel stupid now

"Rolling Stone's interview with Jonah and the cast of TITE"

I remember reading that entire interview...

I remember thinking "Bummer. Jonah's ego likely blew up." I don't know, it just rubbed me the wrong way...

I'm still a fan, but you made a great point there.
