Daily show thing

Was he recently a quest there ? What happened that he stormed out like that ? Can someone from South Africa tell us if there is anything in his background when it comes to apartheid ?
Thx!

yeah that interview was AWKWARD. Didn't expect Trevor Noah to come for him like that considering that it was the first time he had another South African on the show.

I'm South African and can't explain it. I get the sense that Trevor is not a fan and especially dislikes District 9 which has been criticized for portraying black South Africans as shack-dwelling filthy creatures, while the hero was this very Afrikaans stereotype and the only three-dimensional character in the film.

District 9 was set in the slums of Johannesburg and was essentially about a white guy saving the day.

I don't think it was fair of Trevor to basically make Sharlto apologize for apartheid like that. Though Sharlto didn't help his case by saying he voted to free Nelson Mandela when he turned 18 - there was no vote to determine Mandela's release from prison. He probably meant to say he voted FOR Mandela in the first democratic presidential election in 1994.
